I have a cyst in my ovaries and just started taking the patch now i have cyst in my breast and they're very painful!! Should I be worried. My Doctors said I should wait and see...but how about if its too late to wait and see.

As a general rule, cysts that are painful are nothing to be worried about. The cysts develop due to hormonal changes, excessive caffeine, excessive excercise (or lack therof), dehydration. If you doctor wishes to do a wait and see approach it is more than likely that one of the above is suspect. You mention taking 'the patch'. There are several, are you speaking of a hormone patch, birth control patch, nicotine patch? I would think perhaps hormone patch and this could be a contributor to the new cyst development. Continue to do follow ups with your doctor, she will monitor the cysts growth, the dosage of your patch and any abnormal or new physical developments. Right now, there isn't much you can do other than treat the sore breasts and boy it does hurt!
The best way to relieve the pain is to take ibuprofen, or Tylenol, drink lots of extra water, and use a cold pack to your chest to relieve symptoms. If the pain is simply intolerable, and sometimes it is because we move so much throughout the day and it affects our sleep, thus more pain because no rest call up your doc and get a Rx of pain meds to get you through.

Cyst/bloodclot problem?
I recently had a 13cm cyst removed from my ovary. I am still experiencing pain on my left side, so my dr sent me for an ultrasound. I just got the results back..and have another mass. My dr said they are not sure if it is a blood clot or if it is a cyst, but did say it has cystic properties..so they are sending me for an mri . Do bloodclots have cytic properties??
Also, how fast do these things grow? i had surgery 3 weeks ago...and it seems soo fast for it to have grown back again.

Clots do not usually have cystic properties, but there is a kind of cyst that can occur that has blood in it that is called an endometrioma or a chocolate cyst. The reason this is called a chocolate cyst is because when this kind of cyst bursts the blood that comes out is brown and old.
As for how fast a cyst grows, most cysts are fluid filled and when they are that means that it's not cancer.
I would recommend talking to your doctor again to ask for further clarification of the results of the ultrasound.

ok- lower right side stomach hurt when pushed in, hurt when bladder full and hurt when i would suck in stomach, sometimes sex hurt also.
Went to hospital other day (couldnt go to doctor no insurnace) and they did a ultra sound and then an internal ultrasound and then a regular look inside /pap smear ect...
Well they determined from the ultrasound i have a 2cm cyst on my right ovary and a bunch of little ones. I've expierenced this right side stomach problem since i was about 13-14 (after period started) and its just really painful if i push it in hard,,, or sometimes it acts up for a minute and goes away if i push on my stomach and relax..
I'm only 20 so i have really noone to ask. I'm married and we really want to have a bbay in a year or two and im scared we arn't going to be able to now. I have always gotten my period on time monthly, no discharge through the months, no hair extra hair growth so im praying i dont have polycystic ovarian disease

Cyst on Spleen?
I was at the hospital yesterday for throwing up, left sided abdominal pain, fever, headache. The doctor told me that I had gastroentritis along with a bladder infection but the CT scan showed that I had a cyst on my spleen. He said that it looks like its benign and he gave me iv fluids and sent me home with nausea medicine and a antibiotic for the bladder infection. If you could please give me some information on the cyst on my spleen I never had this before...Could this be why I had abdominal discomfort and throwing up along with all of my other symptoms?? Also the throwing up came all of a sudden when I woke up during the night.

Cyst on ovaries?
O.k so I know this lady who ALWAYS has something wrong with her. She is off to the hospital every other month for some emergency or another. The latest is that she has a cyst on her ovaries. She claims it is the size of a soccer ball. Now I am no Dr but if it were that big wouldn't she look pregnant or something.
I want to be supportive of her but I just can't believe half the things she tells me anymore. Has anyone out there had a cyst on their ovaries. Could you please tell me a little bit about them and what the symptoms are and how they are dealt with.

I had a cyst after the twins were born. It was just before I got my first period. I can tell you it hurt like crazy. It felt like I was in labour again. I actually said to Andrew one night I thought the boys may have been triplets.
Mine was only about 5cm wide and disappeared when I got my period. The doctor prescribed me a very strong painkiller.
Every time my stomach contracted I would be in pain, I couldn't lie down without crying in pain. And I have a high pain tolerance.
A woman gets a cyst on her ovaries every month (ask your doctor). It usually disappears when you have your period. Sometimes it can stay and become painful. Usually after you haven't had a period in ages (like when your pregnant).
If this is true she would look pregnant. Where else would you hid a soccer ball.
If it was true she would have been put in for immediate surgery, because they can turn cancerous.

Reply:I had one the size of a grapefruit on my right ovary. The Dr only felt it during a pap. I know some people are basically asymptomatic, but mine hurt like hell!! Very sudden sharp pains to the abdomen. Took my breath away. They put me on birth control pills to shrink it, and that took care of it. Of course everyones body works a little differently.

Dr. question?have a large ovarian cyst,doc advises hysterectomy?
I don't understand.I don't have painful periods ,I'm 43,also uroligist present to hand bladder in a sling??cyst is more then six.talk off three holes to remove uterus..the ultra sound tech said I have cyst but uterus ,I know she is only tech looks good..or possible wake up with a big cut across tummy..plans to take uterus,hang bladder ,drain cyst,maybe remove one or more ovaries,Why? it's one big cyst on one ovary?I can't afford to be laid up for two months...he say's it's best to get it over with..possible lazer uterus ,suction cyst instead,my choice but recomends removing all...please advise me on a desision.Thank you.

I think you need to get a second opinion. You're clearly uncomfortable with the option your current doctor is offering you. I think checking with another doctor at an unrelated practice is the least you can do to educate yourself about your options.
Reply:Sounds like you don't really trust your Doctor. If this is so and you are unsure, ask for a second opinion. Am 56 had all but one ovary removed about 17 yrs ago due to cysts. Have never been on hormone replacement because the ovary is still working. Maybe he suggested doing all to have it done . Do you plan on more children? If not, why not go ahead?

For that matter, even you have fibroids to go along with this cyst, it still may not necessitate a hysterectomy. You're close enough to menopause that unless your fibroids are causing you problems (from what you've said, if you have them, they're not causing you problems), you can leave your uterus, as fibroids will shrink with menopause.
Your doctor is doing nothing more than saving himself time in the future. You deserve better than that. You deserve better than being plunged instantly into menopause when it's not necessary. You deserve to not be patronized by this doctor, nor to be treated like a child who can't make decisions on their own.
You deserve a different doctor. You'll find one by asking for a second opinion.

Cyst on a kidney?
I just had an MRI on my back, and part of the radiologist's report was that they found a 7.6mm round cyst on my left kidney. The question is - what is a "large" cyst? This seems large to me. Internet research is confusing because there is too much information and most focus on cancers and such, which is reasonable. But, I hate to get worked up on something that is common - the internet research says that these are common as well. Thanks.

I have a cyst on my kidney and they said it was caused from lupus and it was nothing to worry about at the present time. At first, when they saw it, they thought it was an abcess to my kidney and was going to remove the entire kidney. After they did more tests, they realized it would not be harmful to me so need to remove. Are you sure that they know that this is a cyst or could be a kidney stone? They might choose to do a scope which goes up to your kidney and then do a biopsy. That is how they tested mine and decided not to do surgery. Very rarely do these cysts on the kidney end up being cancer. I know it is hard to not worry but do not borrow problems until you find they exist. If what they see ends up being a stone instead, they will see this from the scope that they do. Don't get worked up yet. These things are common for a variety of reasons. The size and shape though just reminds me of a kidney stone.

on my husbands kidney.
Going threw many tests it had to be removed.
They removed cyst with kidney.
Surgery went very well...he has done great....never a problem.
What I am saying don't let it go
have it checked out well.
