Vaginal Cyst?

My girlfriend has had problems with vaginal cysts before and they caused her a ton of pain and she had multiple injections to get rid of them. I was not sexually active with her when this had happened. We are now sexually active, however. While using my hand I can feel this relatively hard rounded "object" inside of her. I would say it 2-3 inches deep and about the size of a small nut. It doesn't seem to cause any reaction when I touch it or anything like that. Im afraid to tell her or mention it to her and her take it the wrong way and feel self conscious about herself and shut off all sexual contact. Is it possible that this is just a cyst and nothing to worry about? I have a very small cyst behind my ear and it feels very similar to what I am feeling inside her. Any help would be grea!

Vaginal Cyst?
Yes, it could be just a cyst but because she has had problems with cysts in the vagina before I would recommend that she get in touch with her dr to have this evaluated just to make sure.
Reply:Hmm.. Sounds like a cervix to me.. If it is a cyst I would mention it to her.
Reply:see a dr ..be sure it is not cancer

Pregnancy or a cyst?

Ok, so i am 21 years old and have 2 kids under 2. My youngest is 5 months old. Since I had her, I went to the doctors and they discovered I had a golf ball sized cyst on my left overy. That is the first cyst i ever had. Well, it ruptured, no problem. Since my daughter had been born, I have had sex twice - unprotected. I was suppose to get my period Jan. 12th, but missed it. I am having serious sharp %26amp; crampy pains in that area and they feel like the same pains i had when i was pregnant. I took a pregnancy test on Jan 23 and it came up negative. What are the symptoms of cyst and what are the chances between it being a cyst and me being pregnant???

Pregnancy or a cyst?
i had a ruptured cyct and it just causes your period to be a little off.
Reply:it more then likely then cyst but u could also be pregnant mayb u took the test too soon either way go to the dr for the pain and go from there also go to the dr to see if ur pregnant again
Reply:U really should slow down your only 21 and already have 2 children. You should start protecting yourself.
Reply:cyst's should give you continues bleeding kinda like a period, but way longer.
Reply:I HAVE A CYST ON MY RIGHT OVARY AND I DONT HAVE ANY FEELINGS, MINES ABOUT THE SAME SIZE AS YOURS.... SOMETIMES I WILL GET A LITTLE BIT OF PAIN BUT NOITHIN MAJOR. MY DOCTOR TOLD ME IF I HAD ANY SHARP PAIN TO GO TO THEM RIGHT AWAY BECAUSE IT COULD OF TWISTED AND THAT IS BAD! I SUGGEST GOING TO THE DOCS. GOOD LUCK HUN

Ovarian cyst?

At the end of April I had a vaginal ultrasound done and they found a 6.5 cm cyst. Half solid, half liquid. That is what they explained to me and then i had a ct scan that following week and they said that there was nothing there and nothing to worry about. so they were checking for other reasons as to why my periods have been weird. this is kinda embaressing but last week i was having sex and all of a sudden i had really sharp pains in my lower right abdomen by the ovary that they orignally found the cyst. I mean, these pains were sooo uncomfortable that I couldnt move at all. and it hurt soo bad to move or breath. Im wondering if that cyst is still there. Ive never had any pains like that before in my life. and then the other day i was having them while i was working. it wasnt nearly as painful but it made it uncomfortable to walk. please let me know what you think it is or what i should do. I really would appreciate it! Thanks!

Ovarian cyst?
The cyst could cause the pain with sex as well as at other times. I have them constantly and all you can do is use heating pads and either pain pills or an antiinflamatory like aleve. I've never had to have one removed but some people do. Usually I know they are gone because I feel sick and my stomach gets upset. I also have endometriosis and that causes very painful sex at times. Are you haveing any other symptoms?

Cyst drainage?
Yes, it's a cyst. Ask your doctor to treat it for you so that it doesn't keep filling up.

Cyst on ovaries and a missed period?

Heres the QUESTION: I have a cyst on my ovaries, for the past couple of months I have been having irregular period which I know is due to the cyst. Well this month I havn't had on at all yet. Well I called the nurse and she told me missing my period is not a sign of the cyst, to take a test. Well are there any other reason.... because I really don't think I am... altho I will go take a test, just wondering if they are any other reason for a missed period?

Cyst on ovaries and a missed period?
It can be pregnancy, medications, high levels in testosterone (steroids, natural imbalance or by medication, maybe because it has some form of steroid). That's all I can think of.

Cyst with symptoms and pain?

so all my pg symptoms were related to an ovarian cyst in my right ovary. i have been having pain and problems for the last two weeks, right now im cramping so bad, still feel like im gonna start my period, but then i get these very sharp knife like stabbing pains on my right side, and it hurts to try to go number two. the stabbing pains have been bad and the dull, so im not sure if its ovualtion, i should be ovulating tommorow. so is this from the cyst or ovulation? i had a 3 day spotting session for my period. do i need to worry about the pain im feeling? i found this out with an ultrasound, and have an apt with my gyne on monday for a visit, she doesnt know yet about the cyst and the ultra sound.

Cyst with symptoms and pain?
First of all, you will not ovulate form that ovary because of the cyst. Part of your pain is because your body knows it's time to ovulate and it can't.

For the bathroom issue, your ovaries are very close to your colon. Since your ovary is swollen and abnormal, everything that goes through your bowel is pressing up against your ovary causing the pains that you discribed. You need to take 1-2 stool softeners a day until your appointment. That way if you have to go, you won't have to tighten your muscles so much.

Your body is pretty much assuming that you are pregnant because you are not ovulating, that's why your period was so light. Your doc will probably end up putting you on birth control to dissolve the cyst (if it's not too big)

Take the stool softeners and try a hot bath or heating pad for your stomach. You could also try some ib profen for the pain.

If the pain gets too intense. i.e. you can't move, get to the er asap. It's better to be safe than to cause yourself more agony.

Isn't it wonderful to be a woman?! Good luck...
Reply:I've seen women rushed into the emergency room because their ovarian cyst ruptured. Often they ended up losing both the ovary and tube on that side. They also needed to be treated with antibiotics because pus entered the abdominal cavity when the cyst broke. Get yourself over to your local emergency room!!!
Reply:The pain is from the cyst it is normal to fell that with those but they do need tobe monitered because they can rupture this happened to me and I was in the hospital for five days it was awful. I did not require surgery but it was still very trying, please go see you gyno and let her know about the pain. do it soon.

Cyst or Cancer!?

im 14 years old....

i have a lump or 2 at the bottom of my breast tissue(breast)

im kindda scard...and i hate going to the doctor and getting it checked:(

i felt it 3 days ago...and im afraid that it sumthin bad...can cysts get worse??? if it is a cyst, how can u tell?

or is it cancer?

plllleeeaaasseee! help me!

also, wats the odds for a teen to get cancer and cysts...like 80% chance...or?

Cyst or Cancer!?
I am not scaring you. But you should think of all possibilities. Not all lumps detected in the breast are cancerous. Fibrocystic changes in the breast are extremely common. Also known as fibrocystic condition of the breast, fibrocystic changes are a leading cause of non-cancerous lumps in the breast. Fibrocystic changes also cause symptoms of pain, swelling, or discharge and may become evident to the patient or physician as a lump that is either solid or filled with fluid. Complete diagnostic evaluation of any significant breast abnormality is mandatory because though women commonly develop fibrocystic changes, breast cancer is common also, and the signs and symptoms of fibrocystic changes overlap with those of breast cancer.

It is quite common young girls do not feel to tell this to doctors. You can tell to your mother or any elderly woman in your family and she can take you to a female Gynecologist for initial check up.

As already told it may not be cancerous. The risk of developing breast cancer increases throughout a woman's lifetime, and the disease is relatively rare in very young women like you.

There are a number of risk factors for the development of breast cancer, one of which is family history of breast cancer in mother or sister. The disease may also be present without any reason what so ever.

So you have to go to a physician immediately to evaluate the position and to guide you properly for further action to be taken, if found otherwise doubtful, such as mammogram, biopsy etc. In any case you have to do this immediately as detection in early stage is always better and further CANCER IS STILL AN ENIGMA.

Please do not worry for anything and be courageous. Wish all the best.-
Reply:I have no idea what the chances are or how likely it is for a 14 year old to get cysts or cancer, but I would go get it checked, just to be sure. Just remember whatever it is, you are better off getting it checked out sooner rather than later.
Reply:It's always advisable to report any changes that occur in your breasts to your doctor. However, from my point of view you said you are only 14 years old. You are at puberty stage and you are more likely to be experiencing the (hormonal) bodily changes that normally occur at puberty. These changes do affect breasts. Do see your doctor to be sure.
Reply:First off, don't be scared ... it can be nothing. Cysts can be fibrous or mass. A fibrous cyst very rarely becomes cancerous. A mass could be benign or malignant. If it's benign then, again, there's nothing to worry about. If it's malignant, depending on what stage it has been caught, could still be survivable. It is really best to consult a doctor. They could tell merely by examining you if it's fibrous or a mass. One of the ways to tell, is if the cyst moves it could be a mass. If it does not move by touch then it could be fibrous. Cancer afflicts young and old so it's best to get it over with and have it checked out. You can go to a female obstetrician-gynecologist and even a female surgeon.
Reply:Anyone at any age can get breast cancer.

At your age the oddsa are about the same as winning the lottery, so it isn't a BIG risk.

But remember, someone always wins the lottery, so get is checked, just in case!

It is more likely to be a cyst, and even more likely a hormonal variation due to puberty, but if it was cancer, the earlier you get it checked and treated, the more likely you will live to get old and wrinkled!
Reply:This site has all types of cancer and its treatments naturally. For your more information pls click this link
Reply:80% of breast lumps are NOT cancerous.

Talk to your parents and get an appointment with your doctor to get it checked out.

Odds are it's nothing, especially if you drink a lot of caffeinated beverages, but you still need to get it checked out.

Cyst...could I still be pregnant?

My husband and I have been TTC #1 for the past 6 months. I just found out that I have a large cyst on my left ovary (5.5 cm). I had an abnormal period Oct 31 which is what made me even go to the doctor for a check-up. She says that I may still be pregnant despite the pregnancy tests being negative. She didn't do a blood test however, only the urine tests. Is it possible that I could still be pregnant? Or is my doctor just giving me false hope? Also, if I am, will this cyst be a problem? could it be the reason why the tests are showing negative? I've never had cysts before, so this really worries me. I appreciate any help.

Cyst...could I still be pregnant?
I think you could def be pregnant! Or if you aren't, you still could be next time around.... On your next appointment, you should ask her these questions too. If she knows how concerned you are about it she may do more to give you a real idea of what the cyst means to your fertility (if it even has an affect at all). But I am guessing that you will be perfectly fine. BTW, I have been TTC for 6 months too and I think that we both will get lucky soon :)
Reply:Yeah you could be preg. I don't understand why she didn't do a blood test. I would DEMAND one. Sometimes cyst will go away on there on and other times u have to have them removed. I've had several female surgeries to remove cyst. Don't get your hopes up yet........

Cyst removal?

Hi, I had a cyst on my upper forehead and one night I finally just squeezed out the fatty junk inside myself. you really can't notice that the cyst is there anymore but there is a hole where I squeezed the substance out from, a little bigger then an enlarged pore. I know most people would just let it be but the idea of having a "sac" under my forehead disgust me, especially with the hole and everything. Is there any chance a dermatologist can still remove the sac by lancing the cyst or does the flat surface (since it never filled back in) disable the doctor from getting a grip on the sac wall?

Cyst removal?
Why are you asking this on the Womens Health section?
Reply:It has probably healed and there is nothing there to remove anymore. The only thing you can do now is have a doctor inject some collagen or other substance in the hole which will fill it back out, if the hole bothers you. These treatments usually last for 6-12 months and then need repeating.
Reply:What you are describing is probably a sebaceous gland cyst. I have seen them get as big as a marble. If the enlarged pore gets clogged again...it will begin to fill as before. What you suspected is true...it is much easier to remove just the sac when it is enlarged rather than collasped. Being on the face makes it more complicated and harder to do (mainly because you want to handle it so there is minimal scar). If it wasn't on your face but your back...a trick using a silver nitrate stick can chemically burn the sac from the inside to avoid a simple surgery to remove it. I think you might have to see a dermatologist. Ususally there is a tendency to develop more (Acne Vulgaris). By seeing a dermatologist ...it would not be a wasted trip...you could have a game plan for any future problem and have a idea of how to avoid getting others. Sometimes you can get a superimposed bacterial infection associated with them and need an antibiotic. There might be some new very clever ways of managing this....aim for a dermatologist that is about 50 ...they have all the fancy equipment and experience to get the best result ...usually.

Is a cyst in a uterus & excess fluid in an ovarie a serious matter?

I'm a 33 yrs old who had a pelvis ultrasound done recently. The results showed I have a small cyst in my uterus %26amp; my right ovarie's size is 17cc (due to excess fluid) %26amp; the left one is 3cc (normal size).

GP said it's common in women %26amp; there's nothing to worry about, but he referred me to a gynaecologyst regarding the cyst as he said it would increased it's size %26amp; said I should consider pregnancy ASAP! as the cyst will increase it's size %26amp; will leave little room for a fetus.

I got a 2nd opinion. GP said it was nothing to worry about as the cyst was a male hormon which would not increase in size. Also, said the excess fluid in my ovarie was due to ovulation period and that it would return to it's normal size again.

Eventhough, both GPs have said this is not serious I am still worrying about it as there was inconsistency in GPs responses.

I would like to hear from you, Thank you.

Is a cyst in a uterus %26amp; excess fluid in an ovarie a serious matter?
I can tell you first-hand about that.

I just had my right ovary removed because the tube had filled up with fluid and it DID NOT go away after ovulation.

So make sure you get re-checked to see if this was caused by the ovulation or if it is more persistent like in my case.

You might want to consult a specialist ( like a Gynaecological Oncologist ) for another opinion, especially if there is no change in the size of your ovary.

About that cyst,if it increases in size and could complicate a pregnancy, that would be a good reason to have it removed.

I know these things can be very scary ,but consider the alternative.

I hope everything works out well for you , and you will be in my prayers.
Reply:I'd say the 2nd opinion wasn't to correct just by the size difference. Most people i know have had them removed but i'm not a doctor.
Reply:can lead to cancer
Reply:go and see another gyno please. I've recently had a op because i was trying to have a child i then found out what my gp said was a cyst turned out to be cancer. My heart fell so it was my mission to find a good gyno it took awhile but i did i had a op to remove cancer and then further down the track my uteurs had dropped and one tube was blocked due to a cyst. Please find a good gyno to help you through this ask for it to be removed.
Reply:I believe when you described your ovaries size it is 17 cm not cc's. It is not uncommon for cysts to be on ovaries esp. during ovulation and fluid. The cyst in your uterus could grow and maybe not. I guess I would have an ultrasound peroidically to see it is growing slow, fast,or not at all-to give a piece of mind.
Reply:Ovarian cysts - if they rupture, they cause pain - excessive pain. Your GP is correct that it may be present due to an excess of male hormones in your system.

The thing is that worrysome as the cyst may be, I would be worried more about the biochemical changes in your body that allowed it to occur in the first place. My ovarian cysts were due to the fact I had high insulin production (a pre-diabetes syndrome).

My niece was suffering from polycystic ovaries, preventing her from getting pregnant. The doctor confirmed the diagnosis by use of a fasting blood insulin test. I highly suggest that for you, because if you have high insulin production, it is a precursor for a lot more than just polycystic ovaries.

If the doctor won't order the test, ask the doctor to prescribe it - because you can take the prescription to a blood lab and pay cash - ask for a cash discount - may be $80-100. I suggest you go to a "Quest" lab - or any lab that does this test daily (not just once a month) as it has to be done right. If the result is 10 or higher, that may be indicative of high insulin.

My biochemical crisis happened at age 42. If you get tested now, and get on the right diet, you may save yourself a lot of problems in 10 years. For basic info on hyperinsulinemia, look at www.hufa.org.

Cyst Pimple On My Face? What to do? Yikes!?

people, please help me? i have this cyst like pimples on my cheeks. its hard but i cant pop it. Its like almost flat and kinda hard. i really dont know what to do? will applying toothpaste help?or potato? i have this acne treatment cream with the benzoyl peroxide. from neutrogena. i mean it help sometimes. it flattens the normal pimples. but for this cyst like pimples, it will just like "burn" the skin lil bit. (my skin will go wrinkly lil bit, but i dontmind). so now, what to do with the cyst like pimple?

Cyst Pimple On My Face? What to do? Yikes!?
Your best bet is to probably see your doctor. Cysts can turn into an infected area. Your doctor will be able to drain it. If he/she feels it necessary you may have to have it removed. Just don't try to pop it . You may make it worse if you do!

Does a cyst in the sinus cavity cause frequent headaches?

I have had a MRI and CT Scan, both show a cyst in my sinus cavity about the size of a quarter. I have been to ENT doctors and I am currently seeing a neurologist. They say the cyst is harmless and will not cause headaches. I feel preasure where the cyst is located and have headaches often. My neurologist precribed me medication to take daily for the headaches and they are less severe and frequent but still a burden. I have seen two doctors that say that the cyst is harmless, should I get another opinion?

Does a cyst in the sinus cavity cause frequent headaches?
it wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion. this will do wonders for your level of stress. i would think, that having this quarter sized cyst in my sinus cavity would induce pressure bringing....a headache. always check out the side effects of your medications prescribed. you never know what ill effects you could be getting to get rid of a simple headache.
Reply:yes it does! I also have one and if I'm around allot of smoke it gets real irritated. although it is harmless, it will cause you some discomfort at times.

Care for ovarian cyst?

i went to ER monday night at 6pm and left at 5am , i went in finally because for the last 7 years i've had a dull ache in my lower right side stomach. It only hurts bad if you relax muscles in your stomach and push down on it. Well i have no insurance so thats why it took so long to get up the nerve to just go. SO they did blood work/uranalysis, regular female check, then a indovaginal ultrasound and a regular ultrasound. THey dertimed i had a 2cm cyst on my right ovary and a bunch of little tiny ones. Well after leaving i am still stuck where i was? no insuranc,e but now i know i have cysts.l am 20 years old. I called planned parenthood they said there really isn't anything they could do but send me to a specialist, and i cna't afford things like that- im scared, lonly in this and confused. Can i just go on like i have for 7 years as long as the pain isn't unbarable? I plan on having health insurance by july, i'd lov eto have health insruance so i can explore options =( thanks

Care for ovarian cyst?
Yes, you could continue like this if the cyst isn't causing pain but I would recommend a consultation with the city health dept's free women's clinic if they have one available. If not, check to see if there's a Medical School close by that might be able to help you with further evaluation of the situation.
Reply:Ovarian cysts can lead to numerous typical symptoms such as:

* Irregular menstrual cycles

* A constant or intermittent dull ache in the pelvic area

* Pain the in the pelvis shortly before the menstrual cycles begins and ends

* Pain in the pelvis during intercourse

* Nausea, breast tenderness and vomiting

* Heaviness or fullness in the abdomen

* Pressure on the rectum or bladder

But for a lot of women (in fact it is thought that up to 70% of women may have ovarian cysts) they are asymptomatic (that is, they do not cause any symptoms).

When they cause so much discomfort that you cannot live with them it may be suggested that if an ovarian cysts seems not to 'go away' (as they sometimes do) you might undergo surgery such as a Cystectomy (where they remove the cyst only) or in more extreme cases where an ovary is badly encysted - Oophorectomy - the removal of the ovary.

Naturally an Oophorectomy may affect fertility, although with a single ovary you will still produce eggs and hormones needed for maintaining a monthly cycle. But if both ovaries are removed due to cyst problems (such as happened to someone I know when she was 38) you are thrown full tilt into menopause, and it can be a difficult thing to cope with.

Some resources suggest that you might encourage the natural process of ovarian cysts diminishing, and shrinking to nothing through adopting some key strategies and some lifestyle changes. I feel it is preferable to surgery or drugs if appropriate for your case. This is well worth considering if there is still an option to avoid surgery and you feel you can give a natural remedy a chance to work. In depth details are outlined here:

I send you my heartfelt wish for a quick recovery

Cyst on my left ovary?

its my 5th week of pregnancy .. the doctor told me that i got a big cyst on my left ovary .. it contains clear fluid .. its 14.5 x 8 cm ..

he said i should remove this cyst but he have to make sure if the pregnancy is inside the utrus ..

my question is what if i got the cyst back ?? will they remove one of the ovaries ?? will i get pregnant again ?? and if the pregnancy was inside the utrus .. would there be any kind of danger to the baby ??

Cyst on my left ovary?
all of those questions u should b asking ur doc.

im sry i dnt mean to be rude but those are some serious question. but i can answer u few of them that i know the answer ...cysts can come and go from a womans body- but some of them when its big need to be removed by having a surgery- cysts will not stop u from getting preg again-once they are removed ull be fine and good to go- and if the doc said they need to remove this cyst maybe its better this way since ur pregg. but if ur so concern talk again w.ur doc and let him know how ur feeling and ask them as many question that u want until ur comfortable enough and do w.e its best for u and the baby.

good luck

Cyst and period?

If u had a cyst at the beginning of the month, can it delay your period? I had a cyst on the 7th. I was suppose to start my period the 27th and I still havent got it. Could a cyst be the reason why?

Cyst and period?
Where was the cyst? A cyst on your ovary?

Schedule an appointment with you OB/gyn and make sure you let them know about the cyst and your late period. They'll examine you and do some blood work to determine what's going on. You can regulate your cycles and reduce cyst occurance with birth control pills, so ask them about that, too.

Good luck to you.
Reply:If the cyst was in an ovary yes it's likely. My sister ended up being 2 MONTHS late %26amp; when she went to the doctor that was the reason....she had a few [harmless] cysts in one or both of her ovaries. (Can't remember which.) BUT on top of that she unfortunately had blood clots on her cervix as well.

My ganglion cyst is driving me crazy!?

Ok...15 years ago I noticed a bump forming in the joint of my left wrist. I was told that my options were to slam it with a bible or leave it alone and see if it just goes away. I decided to leave it alone because it didn't bother me until 4 years ago. I decided to get it surgically removed because I was having trouble lifting my baby finger and I was experiencing pain up my arm when I lifted things. The surgery removed the cyst but left a scar and I was in a cast for 6 weeks. After all that, the cyst is back only taller and I'm feeling the same weakening sensations like before. I'm not going to hit it with a book and I don't want to go through the surgery again. Can anyone tell me how effective draining the cyst is and is it a painful procedure? I have also heard there's something you can take, a pill or something, that get's rid of Ganglion cysts?

My ganglion cyst is driving me crazy!?
Wow!

Obviously what's happening is that the cyst is physically putting pressure on the nerve which is why you are experiencing weakness. In all good conscience I cannot suggest that you personally drain it I'm pretty sure that draining it will work [or to use the fancy term aspirating] But since I don't know what you have for: knowledge, equipment, technique %26amp; infection control I'm going to reccomend that you not do it yourself but rather seek an MD to do it.

Good Luck ruok
Reply:Thanks. I'm always glad to give it to help a person out.ruok Report It

Reply:drink salt water or put on it- will osmotically remove it
Reply:i feel your pain......literally. i have one in my right wrist. usually it comes and goes, but some days the pain is mindblowing! i'm a big sissy and won't have the surgery, i tried a really stiff brace my doctor recommended. another friend actually had the same brace and swears by it. it almost looks like a brace that bowlers wear. it slides onto your wrist and has laces and velcro to tighten it. check into it, it may be what you need.

Cyst in my breast...Please help.?

So my Doc tells me I have cyst in my both breast, which really hurt,.I also have cysts in my ovaries so I am taking the patch to control the cyst in my ovaries but the one's in my breast worry me...should I be worried??? Doc tells me I should wait but its been 2 weeks now and I'm still in pain? Will these go away? Please help!

Find Another Doctor Quickly..... Second opinions are very neccessary in these times we live in.....And a third opinion too...dont stop until you get answers..... worrying wont do anything to solve the problem..in fact it might make it worse...

Take your life and health into your own hands and do some research....and also change doctors !!!!

not to get all religious on you..but the Bible does say this....

"My people perish because of the lack of knowledge"

Act Now !!!!
Reply:Well, I might get a second opinion, but you also need to know some things that cause cysts. I had one last year and I lowered the amount of fat in my diet and this helped tremendously. It took a while to get rid of it, but they went away. Caffeine may also cause them, so cut that out if you can.

A dermatologist can remove, which would be a lot cheaper than the drug they use called Acutane( not sure spelling correctly)

THE DR. can lance it and remove the substances from this sac and most likely treat with a medication,

Good Luck.
Reply:That is at the same time horrifying and oddly amusing.

I would be disgusted too though. I hope they can take care of it for you.
Reply:Can I ask how you were able to squeeze the fatty tissue out? I have something very similiar and I can't seem to get anywhere with it... It's about the size of a pea.

Thanks.

I have a cyst in my womb, im really worried about it?

Hi. Last week I visited the doctor with the most awful pain deep down on the left. I had this for 2 weeks but got bad this particular day. I had to go the hospital for a scan and I have a cyst the size of 2 euro coin (£2 coint). This cyst was there during my pregnancy 3 years ago but the doctor did not seem worried. Also I had a laproscopy 5 yrs ago and have cysts on my ovaries again I was told nothing to worry about. Now I am not so sure. I have already caught one doctor out who was lieing to me about the cysts when I got different feed back from another doctor. I have been told to take painkillers and wait for 4 months for an appointment to have it checked out. The pain is still there. Not as bad I must admit but I am conscious of it. Could it be anything serious. I do not trust the doctors in my hospital. (midlands ireland) The doc who gave me the scan last wk said with the size of cyst it should not cause that much pain. Evidently it is causing me alot of pain. What should I do?

I have a cyst in my womb, im really worried about it?
Absolutely a second opinion...even if you have to go to a larger city. My friend had an ovarian cyst and it burst...it wasn't even very big and it burst. It's not life-threatening, but she said the pain was worse than labor! You're docs are probably delaying b/c benign cysts usually aren't serious, but if it's hurting you then you need it removed b/c you don't have to live in pain. Get a second opinion if you can. However, if you can't, the docs are correct in that cysts aren't life-threatening but they ARE wrong in assuming you can or want to live with pain. Now that is assuming they've done a sonogram and maybe biopsied it to make SURE it's a benign cyst. Good luck!
Reply:i would get a second opinion,if you can afford it go private.
Reply:If you are not pregnant, then I suggest you seek another doctor. You are obviously the best judge of the amount of pain you are in and for them to tell you flat out that it can't be causing pain is completely wrong.

While mosts cysts do have a "wait and see" approach - if I were you I would tell them that I planned to get pregnant and need the cysts treated or biopsied sooner.
Reply:There are many different types of ovarian cysts and I wouldn't be TOO concerned about it but you DO need to keep a constant check on it and don't hesitate to get another medical opinion from another doctor if you are having conflicts with previous medical diagnosis.

I have known people who have had cysts go away, people who have had them surgically removed, and people who have had hysterectomies because of them.

Keep having it checked and don't ignore it!
Reply:it shouldn't be causing you any pain really. It is mainly just a lump of fat or water. I have one on my head, which I want to get cut off because it is getting bigger and more noticable. I can't feel mine. If someone touched it without me noticing, I wouldn't realise. But, I'm not sure if you can have it taken away if it is on the inside of you...
Reply:get it taken off right away.A sits that is not treated can turn into some type of cancer.I had 3 cysts on my face at different times. And it grew back on the same side of my face.

I went too my dermatologist witch is a skin Dr. and he took all 3 cysts off my face. Please get it taken care of right away. I

live in the Land of the free USA.
Reply:Hi,

I know that this will sound silly but the pain is a good sign.

It is actually caused by the Cyst being starved of blood and dying.

My wife has cysts the biggest being 8cm dia. She was once in that much pain I dosed her with pain killers and rushed her 140 miles (3.5hr drive) to hospital .

After check ups and scans that was the conclusion that they came to the pain was coming from the cyst as it was dying.

If you start having very heavy periods with lots of big clots it might be advisable to see a gyno.

They might recommend fitting an IUS coil.

Have a look at this link for more details, it's a long link so make sure you copy and paste it all, you might just be able to click on it though:-

Reply:I would demand better treatment, whether the cyst is anything to worry about or not 4months is far too long to wait for an appointment to be checked over. You should tell them that its simply not good enough that you have to wait that long and you want an appointment earlier. If there is any chance that you can afford it then go private, they have to see to you immediately because you are paying them but if you cant go private then stick to your guns and just keep demanding to be tret better. If its any consolation I know how you feel about doctors draging their heels, they kept sending my daughter away when she had a chest infection and because they wouldnt treat her it turned into pneumonia!

Good luck x

Complex ovarian cyst during pregnancy?

I am 6 weeks pregnant, and during a recent ultrasound, my doctor saw cysts on both ovaries. On my left ovary, she said it was a simple, fluid filled cyst which she wasn't worried about, as they are normal and will shrink on their own. She thinks there may be a 'complex' cyst on my right ovary, and I am going back for another scan to check it again next week. Has anyone had any experience with a complex cyst? Am I more likely to need surgery for that?

Complex ovarian cyst during pregnancy?
Yep i had the same thing. I was 6 weeks pregnant and went to the ER because i had awful pain in my side so i thought i might have had an ectopic pregnancy. So they did a bunch of tests and an ultrasound and found a complex cyst on my right ovary i beleive it was. They gave me some pain meds and sent me home but i never even took the meds, the pain went away eventually and later they told me that it had collapsed on its own. Thats what happened to me and the doctor also said they usually do collapse on their own. Good luck

Cyst Question?

For some reason, I get cysts all the time (and yes, I do know the difference between cysts and clogged/infected pores and zits). I have a small one on the side of my head, and have had it for over a year, had one under my jaw, and I get them constantly between my upper thighs (from my legs rubbing together maybe?). I just find it strange since I am never cyst-free, there is always one somewhere! Does anyone know why I am constantly getting these?

Thanks!

Cyst Question?
I would second the suggestion that you visit your doctor on this.

It could have something to do with your diet, but it almost certainly has something to do with your body chemistry. It may be possible to relieve the problem with a relatively mild prescription, or a dietary supplement.

It doesn't sound serious but it sounds very annoying and it would be worth your time and energy to find a cure.
Reply:This happened to my friend a lot. Hers turned out to be calcium deposits or somethin like that.
Reply:your probably genetically prone to them. I bet others in your family get them too. See a doctor to talk about it.

Cyst on unborn baby's head? should i be concerned?

I am 20 weeks pregnant and just have my ultrasound last week. my midewife called me today to tell me she was going to schedule me a level 2 ultrasound because they see a possible cyst on my unborn child's head. my appt. is a week away. this has made me very nervous and scared. could this cyst be cancerous? does this mean there will be abnormalities? is down syndrome a factor? a week seems like a long time to wait for questions that could affect my baby's life. am i raising concern for a possible error on my first ultrasound? ive been trying to look up info on fetal cysts and all i see is negative feedback. any information or related issues are greatly appreciated.. thank you

Cyst on unborn baby's head? should i be concerned?
yeah
Reply:You need to talk to your midwife and have her explain exactly what the deal is. Tell her your concerns. It's her job as a midwife to make you feel comfortable and answer questions for you. A week is too long to worry.
Reply:Cysts are common and it may not be a problem at all.
Reply:okay. i went to webmd.com. from what i gather this is very treatable. please get more info before you worry too much. negative feedback means nothing. find some facts. i know a week is FOREVER but try to relax a little. (easy for me to say) my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Reply:I know this is scary but I think its a bit too early to get overly concerned. the level 2 ultrasound will get a better look at things. I can't tell you what the prospectove outcome for your baby is but be prepared to go in for monitoring ultrasounds and possibly an amniocentices later on. I doid a quick web search and found sometimes these cysts are false positives which is why the higher level ultrasound is done. Just be prepared for the possibility of needing to see a perinatologist. Write down all your questions and make sure your questions are answered. being informed really helps.

do you know how big the cyst is and if its all fluid or partially solid? If it helps any I have a squishy benign tumor on my forhead about the size of silver dollar that sorta feels like a cyst. I was born before ultrasound was used routinely otherwise it might have been seen prenatally on me. It has never cause me any problems other than mild cosmetic annoyance. I am otherwise perfectly healthy.

Is there any prevention for cyst?

I've a cyst surgery on Nov 2002 (A cyst on my right ovary) but this year (Jan 2006) I find out that I've cysts in both ovaries :( And I'm going for another surgery in Jul 2006.) Is there any prevention for cyst not to come back? I understand cyst do have many kind, my kind do cause me pain in my ovaries and lower abdomen. The pain is unbearable. What's cyst actually and how it form it?

*Thanks for answering my question* :)

Is there any prevention for cyst?
I heard that some cysts can be caused by pin worms. Apparently, many humans have some sort of parasite without knowing it. It's possible you could have pinworms, and you can get it checked out if you want. (pin worms come out a tnight to lay their eggs, and sometimes they accidentally go up the wrong hole)
Reply:I had the same thing one my right ovary they had to take out my ovary and folopian tube, it was terrible . They are very painful and sometimes cancerous. Personally i think and im not a doctor but i think mine was caused from birth control. I had the norplant for 3 years. Now i just had a baby(its crazy but i thought after the sergury i wasnt going to be able to get pregnant) and i refuse and terrified to get on birth control. I make my husband do that part. And every since i havent had a problem. However they do say birth control pills are supposed to help get rid of them but mine was soooo big, its your choice go with your instincts, AND PRAY.

The doctor should be able to remove the sac. The doctor would have drained the cyst in the first place. A cyst heals from the inside out, so the hole will close up. But it can get infected again and come back (and if it comes back, do NOT squeeze the puss inward for heck's sake, you don't want that stuff in your bloodstream!!! ick!). Go to the doc and have it removed. You'll still end up with a little scar.

Ruptured ovarian cyst, still get an ultrasound?

Sunday night I had horrible pelvic pain after having sex and could hardly sit up, stand, or walk. Yesterday I was still in pain so I went to the doctor who thought it was either ruptured ovarian cyst or ectopic pregnancy. I don't think its ectopic pregnancy because I don't have bleeding or lightheadedness. I was off birth control for 2 weeks and I think that's when the cyst formed, because I read its rare to get a cyst if you're on birth control. So that makes sense. Anyway doctor is doing a pregnancy test but she said she would hold off on an ultrasound if I felt better today. I do feel better (as in I don't have severe pelvic pain, but it comes and goes) so I guess she won't order the ultrasound. But I feel uncomfortable knowing if I had a ruptured cyst, I just leave it like that and not do anything about it? And all the stuff that was inside it is just floating around now? Anyway what should I do when I call the doctor, decide to do the ultrasound or am I fine since I feel ok?

Ruptured ovarian cyst, still get an ultrasound?
go see a different doctor....you really want to jeopardize you health by letting some dumbass on yahoo answers give you advice?????????

WAKE UP CHIC!!!!!
Reply:ultrasound is a must. u have a lousy doctor may i say. u should have had it the same day u had an appointment. also blood test for pregnancy. how come she didn't do u an ultrasound? what country u re from?
Reply:The first thing.. it may not be a ruptured ovarian cyst, since even appendicitis and diverticulitis can produce symptoms that mimic a ruptured ovarian cyst.

The symptoms may be similar to those of other conditions, such as endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, ectopic pregnancy or ovarian cancer

Endometriosis is one of the most common causes of pelvic pain and infertility in women.

Symptoms of endometriosis

The most common symptom of endometriosis is pelvic pain. The pain often correlates to the menstrual cycle, however a woman with endometriosis may also experience pain at other times during her monthly cycle.

For many women, but not everyone, the pain of endometriosis can unfortunately be so severe and debilitating that it impacts on her life significant ways.

Pain may be felt:

before/during/after menstruation

during ovulation

in the bowel during menstruation

when passing urine

during or after sexual intercourse

in the lower back region

Other symptoms may include:

diarrhoea or constipation (in particular in connection with menstruation)

abdominal bloating (again, in connection with menstruation)

heavy or irregular bleeding

fatigue

The other well known symptom associated with endometriosis is infertility. It is estimated that 30-40% of women with endometriosis are subfertile.

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is a general term that refers to infection of the uterus (womb), fallopian tubes (tubes that carry eggs from the ovaries to the uterus) and other reproductive organs. It is a common and serious complication of some sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), especially chlamydia and gonorrhea. PID can damage the fallopian tubes and tissues in and near the uterus and ovaries. Untreated PID can lead to serious consequences including infertility, ectopic pregnancy (a pregnancy in the fallopian tube or elsewhere outside of the womb), abscess formation, and chronic pelvic pain.

Symptoms of PID vary from none to severe. When PID is caused by chlamydial infection, a woman may experience mild symptoms or no symptoms at all, while serious damage is being done to her reproductive organs. Because of vague symptoms, PID goes unrecognized by women and their health care providers about two thirds of the time. Women who have symptoms of PID most commonly have lower abdominal pain. Other signs and symptoms include fever, unusual vaginal discharge that may have a foul odor, painful intercourse, painful urination, irregular menstrual bleeding, and pain in the right upper abdomen (rare).

Cyst...could I still be pregnant?
you can be pregnant with cysts, they are only a problem if they erupt, and that is rare. if you are not pregnant you can have them removed, if you are pregnant you should be okay.
Reply:I'm 20 weeks pregnancy and have several cysts on my ovary since the beginning of my pregnancy. There is nothing they can do about it right now, and they aren't causing me any problems. HCG is not blocked by cysts, so your test would be positive no matter what, unless you were way early.
Reply:I can't help you with your questions about your cyst. But if your doctor thinks you might still be pregnant after having a negative pregnancy test they should be doing more test to find out for sure. If this doctor does not after saying you might still be pregnant I would find a new doctor.
Reply:when my wife had a cyst on her ovary the doc told her that she could still get pregnant.

ask your doctor all of the things that you want to know. schedual an appointment for one half hour long session and sit with him/her to get the answers you want. you pay there salary and if they won't give you answers then you need to find someone new.

Last, look at what you believe. Is there a God or a supreme being of some sort? I say yes but you need to know for yourself. then, you need to get down with your husband and ask God for help TTC. I promise you that there are many who are out there willing to stop what they're doing to come to your house and help you understand what God's role is in your family.

Best of luck and may God bless you with children very soon.

Period for lasting 2 weeks? cyst?

I usually get my period lasting more than a week, but it does eventually stop. Recently, I've been worried if something was wrong. So i looked up some questions on Y!A and I almost started crying because I saw that it has happened to others and it was a cyst. I am thirteen and I am in my second year of my period. It has always lasted more than a week and comes back frequently. Does anyone know if it is definitely a cyst? I am very scared to ask my grandma about it to take me to a doctor. And if it is a cyst what do they do?

Period for lasting 2 weeks? cyst?
Well, if you're in your first year or two in your period, I don't believe it's a big thing.

When I first got my period, it lasted 7 or 8 days. Since it's been a while, I've gone down to 5 or 6.

A cyst is a closed sac having a distinct membrane and division on the nearby tissue. They may contain air, fluids, or semi-solid material.Once formed, the cyst will remain in the tissue permanently unless removed by surgery or by taking medication that will dissolve it.
Reply:you need to let an adult know what's going on so that they can help you. hiding the fact can make matters worse.
Reply:Go to a doctor , there are more things that can be happening that is as easy as taking pills but you will never know if you dont check on it.

Cyst behind bladder...need answers?

After having a ct scan and ultrasound they have found a golfball size cyst behind my bladder. What causes this and how will they remove it? Can they do it vaginally opposed to opening me up? Or will they drain it? Report says that it is benign.

Cyst behind bladder...need answers?
Cysts are nothing to worry about if they're benign... they're usually caused by normal hormonal changes in your body that cause certain areas to swell with fluid. Sometimes the fluid gets trapped and then you have a cyst. Depending on how deep it is they can drain it with a long needle- if it's not painful or large and isn't bothersome to you, they may not remove it at all.

Not a cyst-cyst? What does it mean?

I had a scan of my ovaries and the nurse who did the scan found something wrong with one of them, but is not allowed to give a diagnosis, so I have to wait for an appointment with the doctor. When I asked her if it looked like a cyst, she said: "No, it is not really a cyst-cyst." What might it be? I hate waiting for appointments.

Not a cyst-cyst? What does it mean?
A Nurse or Tech is not allowed to share information with a patient. But is sounds like it might "look" like a cyst, but is not an obvious cyst.

Some times it takes a biopsy to identify exactly what it going on.

Been there, done that, way toooo many times.

Be patient. A cyst can be blood filled, my DR. called mine chocolate cysts (from the color of old blood) and fluid filled cysts. Mine were related to Endometriosis.

My daughter had one burst in July or August and spent 18 hours in the emergency room and $12,000.00 only to learn that a cyst had burst and released fluid into her abdominal cavity. She has been perfectly fine every since.

Google "Ovarian cysts" you can get all of the information you need. Generally the worry is far worse than the condition.

Try taking Ibuprofen per bottle suggestions for a couple of weeks. It will improve the inflammation and might reduce it.

Good Luck and don't worry too much.
Reply:She had a stutter, its means nothing. You'll have to wait for the appointment;
Reply:relax. if u re before your period it can be yellow body in your ovaries or tubes. it will dissolve after u have period or get pregnant. it occurs every month. so they re supposed to check everything, so doctor will probably give u another appointment for ultrasound check after a week or 2. but of course it also can be out of womb pregnancy - it can occure everywhere - in tubes or ovaries. but it causes some bleeding and pain. if u have no pain and bleeding relax once more
Reply:she should have said nothing by hinting she has bee unprofesional and got you worried when you need not be
Reply:I had a scan a while back and it showed a cyst as big as a penny and my urologist said we leave cysts alone. And i have had no problems. So don't worry all will be well .
Reply:Looks as thought you may have a Dermiod cyst, Dermoid cysts are benign tumors that contain nails, teeth, bone, hair, cartilage, and/or other tissues, and can be filled with a fatty substance. They vary in size and location, generally appearing on an ovary, i have had a dermiod cyst on my right ovary for 5 years, it has never changed its about 2.5cm, because this cyst causes no problems the doctors leave it, good luck at your appointment let me know how u get on xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Cyst and what pill is used to treat it?

There is a pill to treat a cyst but do not know the name of it?

An ovarian cyst may need to be removed surically, but there is also a pill to treat a cyst.

Birth control pills are usually the first treatment for ovarian cysts.

Complex ovarian cyst?

I recently went to the doctor as I had this sharp sting pain in my left side and feeling like I have a full bladder all the time. My doctor sent me for an ultrasound which revealed a 4.5cm complex haemorrhagic ovarian cyst on my left ovary. I have to go for another ultrasound in 6 weeks to see whether the cyst has gone away or not. In the meantime my doctor has prescribed some pain killers for me and has put me on the birth control pill to see whether the cyst would go away. I didn't really want to go on the pill as a few years ago when I took it I became very emotional, moody, had lots of headaches and had no sex drive. I discussed this with my doctor and he advised that the birth control pill I used back then was a very strong pill and that the pill he prescribed to me now is not as strong. I have found out that taking birth control pills doesn't guarantee that cysts would never return again, but are there any other ways or options to consider instead of having to take the pill?

Complex ovarian cyst?
If you have a small functional ovarian cyst that is not causing any problems, your doctor may recommend a “watch and wait” approach. That is, you may need to return for a followup examination or ultrasound after one or two menstrual cycles, when there is a good chance that the cyst will have dissolved. Your doctor may suggest you avoid intercourse during this time, since it can cause a cyst to rupture. If the cyst grows, especially if it becomes larger than about 2 inches, it may need to be removed surgically. It may take a few months of using birth control pills before your cysts clear up. Your doctor can determine if the pills have been successful by repeating the pelvic exam, the ultrasound, or both. Your cysts may or may not return once you stop taking birth control pills. You can decide with your doctor how long you wish to stay on the pills.
Reply:The other option is to wait %26amp; see %26amp; do sugery if the cyst is getting larger. Surgery nowadays is easy %26amp; can be done through small opening in your umbilicus( the belly button). So there is no need to panic, just cool down, keep your medical appointments and remember that it is a minor problem, which can be sorted out very easily.
Reply:The other option you can take is to have it removed. I don't know if that's what you want. BUT, even if you had it removed, there is a chance the cyst might come back. Unfortunately, I had two cyst on both my overies and yes, I ended up on bc. It did take it away. I would listen to your doctor and try a smaller dose of bc. You have nothing else to lose and more to gain.

Good luck
Reply:i think iam not alone , and you are not alone exactly your signs and symptoms i have them , and i went to a doctor to for medical advice and i was told to go for ultra sound which showed that i had masses , i have had this problem for 4 years and i get strong pains in my left ovary and at times painful periods and also during ovulation and i have wondered how to prevent them since they go and come back so many people have advised me to take the pill but i fear the risks related to the pill , im also wondering whether there is any other cure , im only 24 years and im worried not to be able to get pregnant
Reply:unfortunately, this is the least invasive way of removing the cyst. i had one at i think 16 and the pill didnt make it go away and then i had to have surgery.

basically cysts are very common and they normally work themselves out of you, however, in some cases like mine, they didnt and i had to have surgery. i would try a low dose birth control pill and see how you feel. if the side effects are bad, the talk to your doctor.

the birth control pill helps to prevent cysts as cysts are formed when you ovulate. if you do nto ovulate, then you dont get a cyst. if you skip or stop taking the pills, then you start ovulating again and risk getting another cyst.

Left ovarian cyst?

i'm almost 21 yrs old. i have a 4.8CM COMPLEX left ovarian cyst. they said it's "complex" and i'm not really for sure what this means? i had to go to the ER this past saturday from bleeding over 2 weeks. after i finished period, i started BC last sunday and was passing huge clots/ tons of blood so was hospitalized and then sonogram determined this complex cyst. i go to gyn on thursday so i'm assuming he'll do another sonogram and prbly biopsy? how do they go about doing a biopsy on an ovarian cyst? how do they remove it? birth control or surgery?? is it just a cyst or "complex" make it something more severe (ie tumor...benign?) i'm so confused!! and won't know till thursday

btw- i have very irregular periods. prbly caused by this. before 2 wks ago, my last period was march 2006.

thanks for all whom can tell me something......appreciate it.

Left ovarian cyst?
Hey there. Do not worry until the doctor says you need to. There is a very high chance that these cysts are benign. You are young. By no means should you have any sort of reproductive cancers at this age unless exposed to high amounts of "bad" radiation, or a very aggressive STD. Be prepared for some trying medical exams and needles. You'll be fine in the end. Think positive and as God to heal you. You'll be nothing short of a miracle if you are a believer.
Reply:well i understand where your coming from i have a right ovarian cyst. its simple but pretty big the last time my gyn checked it grew and it was about 6 centimeters. i went 9 months with it due to my pregnancy. Dont worry it will be ok, and to answer your questioned on how its removed unless your pregnant its done by surgery. Just pray and God Will take care of it.

Cyst Removal During Pregnancy?

For the past few months, I've had reoccuring cysts that dissolve when I start my period. However, I recently found out I was pregnant.. therefore the cyst was not able to dissolve and it's still in there. I know because I get awful pelvic area pains during intercourse while the cysts are present. I have my first appointment at 6 weeks and I'm 5.5 weeks now. I was wondering if anyone has been through this before and how it worked out for them..... and what the procedure was like?

Cyst Removal During Pregnancy?
The cyst that occurs is a corpus luteum, if a pregnancy occurs after ovulation the corpus luteum continues to grow and produce progesterone to support the pregnancy untill the placenta can take over. If a preg. does not occur then the cyst will stop growing and go away.

When i was 11 weeks preg. my corpus luteum cyst had grown to 9cm and was causing me great pain. I was hospitalized and given pain meds and antibiotics and got some relief after a day or so. I was discharged on the 4th day with orders of bed rest and to drink 8-10 oz of water a day to help flush out the cyst. By the 14th week of preg. i was able to go about my normal routine. They did not want to do surgery as it would have endangered the baby and had the cyst not resolved itself, then they would have tried to do surgery after 14weeks. Hope this helps, some people are just more prone to have the larger cysts that others. I do think that riding 4-wheelers made mine grow to the uncomfortable size, but i will never know for sure. Take it easy and hope your feeling better soon.
Reply:Odds are they will monitor the cyst and if it doesn't get too big they will just leave it alone. It's pretty common.

Abdominal pain during sex? Possibly a cyst?

Yesterday I was experiencing some pain in my stomach. Later in the evening my boyfriend and I tried to have sex, but it was incredibly painful for me. It felt like he was stabbing me.

I thought maybe I just had gas, but that doesn't really seem like it was the problem.

Then I thought maybe I have an ovarian cyst. Would a cyst on an ovary cause this type of pain during intercourse?

I have a couple of other cysts, one on my tailbone and a few on the inside of my thigh... Is it possible for someone to be predisposed to cysts? What causes them?

Abdominal pain during sex? Possibly a cyst?
I had the same problems when i had cysts. I had one growing on my left ovary and connected all the way to my tailbone. It hurt me lots and caused pain during sex too. They found it when i was about 3 mo prego w my son thru ultrasound. Get it checked out. And don't worry when or if it is one like mine they had to take it along with my ovary and i still got prego later on w my daughter so don't worry about not having kids if you want them.. good luck

Ruptured ovarian cyst and children??

I was at work today and a had a sudden intense pain in my lower abdomen area and started to sweat profusely and get light headed. I couldn't even walk. They called an ambulance for me and took me the hospital. The doctor gave me a pelvic exam and ordered a CAT scan. He said a cyst in my ovary had ruptured. He ordered to take 2 days off from work and prescribed me some type of meds. He said it wasn't harmful and cyst are common in women during child bearing years, but I am worried that this will mess up my chances of having children in the future. Has anyone ever been able to have kids after something like this??

Ruptured ovarian cyst and children??
Yes you still can bear children, as long as there is no immdeiate complication of the rupture. Cysts are very common in the ovary, it depends on what type of cyst it is. There is still a great chance of you having a baby especially when it is only one ovary affected. I have polycystic ovary and I was able to give birth two years ago and i am contemplating on having another baby.

Talk to your physician about your case and ask the extent of your disease, he will advice you how to get pregnant still.

good luck.
Reply:My cousin has had them for years and they gave her a lot of pain. But good news, she just gave birth to a healthy baby. So yes you could still have kids.
Reply:I had 2 after mine ruptured...don't worry

Ovarian cyst?
An ovarian cyst is any collection of fluid, surrounded by a very thin wall, within an ovary. Any ovarian follicle that is larger than about two centimeters is termed an ovarian cyst. An ovarian cyst can be as small as a pea, or as large as a grapefruit.

Most ovarian cysts are functional in nature, and harmless (benign). In the US ovarian cysts are found in nearly all premenopausal women, and in up to 14.8% of postmenopausal women. The incidence of ovarian carcinoma is approximately 15 cases per 100,000 women per year.

Ovarian cysts affect women of all ages. They occur most often, however, during a woman's childbearing years.

Some ovarian cysts cause problems, such as bleeding and pain. Surgery may be required to remove those cysts.

Don't worry, after the operation u would be normal, u can continue u r role as a mother in u r future life. One of my friend have the same problem, but without an operation it's gone by some medicine. now she is going to become a mother.

Now normaly key hole surgery is doing for this, so don't worry, be happy

Ganglion Cyst moving around?

I have a ganglion cyst in my left wrist, and about 3 weeks ago the doctor injected cortisone into it. It was sore for a week but then it got better, although the cyst is still there.

Just now my wrist has frozen up, so I've cracked it back again (it always does it -prob what caused the cyst to begin with) and suddenly the cyst seems to be moving - if I push on it slightly it moves around... it wasnt doing this before, is it normal?? Is it getting better or worse?!

Thank you!

Ganglion Cyst moving around?
I have the same type of cyst in the same wrist. My doctor told me that back in the old days they would give you a bottle of whiskey and then smack your wrist shut in a bible...don't ask me why. I guess it would pop the cyst. These cysts are common in waiters/waitresses. If you could imagine how a waiter/waitress holds her tray in the air and the position that the wrist would be in. Anyway I wasn't a waitress and it happened to me for reasons unknown. Mine mainly flares up like arthritis and sometimes bulges and becomes very painful. Sometimes mine moves around other times it doesn't (depending on how swollen it is). What I am thinking is, the doc injected cortisone in it, it took some of the swelling down and is now small enough to be moved around. You can have them removed, but there is a chance they will come back. Make sure you let your doctor know what is going on, and good luck!
Reply:I have one too. Had it for about 10 years. It does seem to move around a little bit. I never had any shots. The doctor wanted to do surgery to remove it, but I decided not to do that because it isn't hurting me. It is just a little annoying. I wouldn't worry too much about it moving.
Reply:I thought they ususally removed them?? Anyway, my mom and aunt both had one and you could push on it and move it around somewhat.
Reply:I think you should cut it out immediately! Any foreign object inside of you can't be good...right?
Reply:Yes, it's common for them to move around.

As to whether or not it's getting worse:

"If the lump remains and doesn’t bother you aesthetically or physically, there’s no need to take further action. However, if pain persists and/or the lump enlarges, see your doctor: Ganglion cysts can be “aspirated” with a needle (which draws out fluids), or removed surgically if they interfere with range of motion. While these treatments may be successful in up to 75% of patients, ganglions commonly recur after aspiration or surgery."
Reply:Wow is cortisone all they have to treat that still..
Reply:Chiropractor and Massage Therapist

Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).

Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).

Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.

Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.

The cure - start with a professional massage, you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).

For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.

Ovarian Cyst- taking coumadin (blood thinners)?

I am 41 and have had cysts before, removed twice, and on birth control pills till 2005 until I had a blood clot in my lung from the BC pills. I had a large cyst 4 years ago that did shrink then.

I know most cyst are fluid filled, but is there any thing I should worry about, I have an appn't Tues. with OB-GYN. I am really hurting, Darvocet n 100 not working and i am sick to my stomach, back and pelvic pain. If it ruptured and was just fluid filled me being on blood thinners any worries? anyone know?? I am not hungry , thirsty or feel good at all, but our town is small and don't like the ER they think you are an addict if you go in for pain. Guess I am worried because of my blood thinners and if the cyst is not fluid but blood filled. I don't know how likely it is? I have been having symptoms for 2months or so but didn't realize till this month with all the symptoms, UA clear, spotting, heavier period, cramping, upper leg pain and then the low back and low pelvic pain. Anyone to help?

Ovarian Cyst- taking coumadin (blood thinners)?
I know this feeling very well. Since last Oct I have had ovarian cysts.

I had to learn not to lift items that are heavy and not run around like I used too.

My doc didn't seem to concerned about them. He also wanted to put my on the pill and I said noooooooooo, I am 42 and the risks are to high.

I was tired of all this and wanted a hysterectomy, but my doc said no.

At work I really have to watch it. If I am walking like Grocho Marx they know I am in pain. I found that a half of a vicadine pill works fine and takes the edge off to where I can stand up straight.

For the past three months I have really taken it easy so I don't put myself into mega pain. Oh I know your pain!!!

You might want to call nurse direct. I have called them before and they will give you more info to talk with your doctor and they might have info as far as the blood thinners.

As for me I am looking for a new doctor. Good luck hun!!

Ganglion cyst surgery question?

I have a ganglion cyst on my wrist. I might get surgery to get it removed, but I am worried it might be extremely painful. I am unable to swallow pills (its not a med condition, I am just unable to swallow them) so that means I can't take pain killers like Advil. I don't want to get the surgery if it is going to be too painful. In that case I will just get the cyst drained. Also the cyst is on my dominant hand so I may have to use my hand as I am in school.

So, my question is: Is surgery for a Ganglion cyst very painful?

Ganglion cyst surgery question?
My daughter had this surgery when she graduated high school. She took pain killers for a week or two. Unfortunately, her ganglion came back. It was in her dominant wrist also, and then it started in her other wrist. I took her to an acupuncturist. He gave her several needle treatments and Chinese medicine from herbs. She hated the needle treatments, so didn't go more than 2-3 times. She did take the tiny little herbal tea pills for a few months. Her ganglions are not totally gone, but they don't bother her much. She plays piano and violin and her work is doing inventory, which is hard on the wrists.

If you have the option of having the cyst drained, try that first and see how it goes.
Reply:They run in my family. I had one on my foot and it was causing some pain and a firery feeling in my toes, so I had it removed. It wasn't bad at all. Just a couple of stitches and it was done in an out-patient clinic. I was home the same day.

I have had many of them. My index finger knuckle (that one hurt for awhile but is now going away), on the inside of my wrist (it has all but disappeared).

Here is some info about them:

A Ganglion cyst — also known as a Bible cyst — is a tumor or swelling on the top of a joint or the covering of a tendon. It looks like a bony like bump on the hand or wrist. It may feel firm or spongy and is not harmful. In fact, most doctors will tell you not to worry about it, and that no treatment is necessary. Even if removed, they can come back.

Bible cysts are very common in women, and usually occur on the back of the hand, at the wrist or even on the palm side of the hand. Other places they occur are on the outside of the knee or ankle or on the foot.

The ganglion cyst got its nickname of “Bible cyst” because back in the old days, the cure for one was for the doctor to whack your wrist with a bible while you held your hand or wrist flat on a table. That cure is actually effective for the spongy ones, though I’d recommend you see your doctor if it worries you or is painful in any way.

My brother had one on his wrist when he was young (8 or 9) and the doctor told him about the "Bible Cyst" story and they were going to remove it and he was too scared and slammed a bible on it and it disappeared! So that does work. I tease him about it to this day.
Reply:You've already gotten good answers about your stated question. I just wanted to add that you should talk to your pharmacist. There are liquid formulations of lots of different pain medications, including Advil. They are made for small children, but they are also useful for people who can't swallow pills (common in the elderly). Some (but not all) pills can also be crushed, and you can sprinkle the powder on applesauce and eat it. Some pills (including Advil) come in chewable tablets. You have a lot of options. Good luck!

Ovarian cyst question?

Is it possible/normal to get ovarian cysts during your period? I'm on my period right now, and last night I felt a cyst burst and it hurt like a mofo for a really long time. And I'm having cyst pain again right now. So is this normal with cysts? I get a LOT of them.

Ovarian cyst question?
I swear I had one 24/7 and bursting all the time, even went to ER many times cause the pain was way too much. I'm not no doctor but my answer would be yes, cause I recall be admitted for two ovarian cysts, one was bursting and the other was bigger than a golf ball and I had my period too. So Good Luck, hope that helped.. I've now had a hysterectomy just last tues (Dec 17), 31yrs old and no kids... but now no more cysts.
Reply:I know from expediences with women Ive been with that this happens a lot but I think making an Apt. with ObGyn would be appropriate as a precaution.

Good Luck
Reply:First go to your gyno and find out for sure if you actually do have cysts. You don't really sound as if you know, it sounds more like self-diagnosis. If you had a cyst burst you should be looking at an operation. I had a large cyst and my gyno said to have the ovary removed asap as it could burst and I would be in real trouble. So I don't think you just let them burst without doing anything about it.

Dermoid cyst and pregancy? ultrasound results?

hi has anybody had a dermoid cycst and been pregnant?

on the 18th sept i had a scan as id had pains on my left side and after abit the sonographer said i had a dermoid cycst on my left ovary . at this point i was 4weeks pregnant that day i later found out, anyway wouldnt she of been able to tell from the scan i may be pregnant? like thickness of cervix and could the cyst have been the pregnancy. i had a scan at 6weeks and 8 weeks and they could not see the cyst and its not been seen since on any of my scans ( ive had 4 so far)

my lmp was 13th aug, according to my dating scan i concieved the 4th sept and due 27th may 08.

i am wondering were the cyst has gone if it was there in the first place and plus the lady who did the ultrasound and saw the cyst , it took her ages and didnt seem to interested.

thankyou

Dermoid cyst and pregancy? ultrasound results?
The sonographer was probably wrong. The cyst probably looked like a dermoid, but since you are pregnant the cyst was really a corpus luteum cyst. This is a normal cyst that everyone gets in their first trimester of pregnancy. It helps to provide nutrients to the egg while it implants into the uterus. The reason they can't see the cyst anymore is because a corpus luteum will collapse after the egg is implanted into the uterus. Sometime they collapse right away, sometimes they hang around for 12 to 14 weeks, but in the end they all collapse because the placenta is now providing nutrients to the baby and the corpus luteums job is done.

Leutal cyst or implantation?

I wanted to ask a question about a possible leutal cyst. I have done some reading about leutal cysts and I have a question for those of you who have had them. My ovualtion day was Sunday 2/18 or2/19 and 7 days later on Saturday Feb 24 I started having pains on my lower right side. I have never had these post ovulation pains when I was on the pill but since I started TTC I have seen all types of new things. I had some feelings like this last month but nothing this bad. There was no bleeding or spotting which leads me to believe that it may not have been implantation but a leutal cyst. I am wondering if anyone has had these before and what your symptoms were. I had sharp pains in my lower right abdomen (around ovary) and then it dulled and became a crampy pain with lower back pain and a feeling of heaviness for 3 days. I also kept getting the feeling that I needed to use the restroom (#2 sorry TMI) but i didn't have to go. Is this normal and does it sound like a cyst or implatation?

Leutal cyst or implantation?
i just had a cyst removed and i had pain on my lower left abdomen and it would subside to my lower back...i also had a feeling of fullness in my tummy... um maybe just go to the doctors and get it checked out that would be ur best bet. because if u are pregnant u need prenatal care and if it is a cyst u need to get it taken care of too. good luck.

Dermoid cyst on ovary?

OK SO I HAD A DERMOID CYST BEFORE, IT MIGHT BE BACK I AM GOING FOR AN ULTRASOUND ON MONDAY, MY GF JUST FOUND OUT SHE MIGHT HAVE THE SAME THING ON HER LEFT OVARY, CAN WE GET PREG IF WE HAVE THESE CYSTS? EVEN IF WE CAN WHAT WOULD IT MEAN TO BE PREGNANT ANDDD HAVE THE CYST?? IM VERY SCARED, TO THE POINT OF TEARS BECUASE OF MY PAST EXPERIENCE WITH THEM, I HAD A C SECTION LIKE SURGERY WITH A 5 INCH LONG CUT ALONG MY ABDOMEN, AND I DONNNNT WANT IT BACK OR TO SEE MY GIRL GO THRU THE SAME THING. ALSO IS THERE ANY WAY TO TAKE CARE OF THE CYST WITHOUT SURGERY??? THANKS GUYS.

Dermoid cyst on ovary?
Most cysts will resolve themselves on their own. I have had large cysts on my left ovary for 10 years and I've never had surgery. My doctor put me on birth control and that worked for a while until I wanted a baby. Now, I have an organic diet and that has allowed my most recent cysts to resolve themselves. Don't panic just yet. She should be able to get pregnant still she may just have to wait until the cyst is gone. Have her try eating organic as pesticides and hormones in non-organic foods can aggravate cysts or promote new growth.
Reply:There are some meds that can shrink the size of cysts but no there is no other way for you to get rid of them unless they just go away on there own. I know someone who got pregnant and had a healthy baby with cyst in her uterus they just had to monitor it to make sure it did not get bigger with the baby and she did have a lot of discomfort. Also if the surgery did not involve cutting into the uterus or tubes then I wouldn't worry because the uterus is a separate muscle under then abdomen. If they did cut into the uterus then that's no biggie many women have healthy pregnancies after c-sec.
Reply:I had a cyst many years ago, before I had my son so yes! you still can get preg if you have an extra ovary in fact the one ovary will get bigger to make up for the lost one. the cyst I had was about the size of a grapefruit, and it had damaged my appendix,my tube, and ovary.so those also had to be removed.I was 18 then, they also had to cut me along my hair line which hurt like hell..and then 12 years later I got preg and had a 11 pound boy Yes!11 pounds...and he was a c-section so they had to re cut me on my hair line, but it didn't hurt as bad because of scare tissue build up...usually the only way to get rid if that stuff is having surgery those cyst are nasty and the sooner you get them out the better!! GOOD LUCK!!

Non-cancerous Breat tumor & cyst?

I'm 24 and I have a non-cancerous tumor on my left breast. I've done a biopsy, and I do ultrasounds periodically. I do not have breast cancer in my family history. This tumor isn't really bothering me that much, what's bothering me is that I have a cyst on that breast which continuously opens up a wound, usually when I have my period. The fluid in the cyst is drained from the wound, and the wounnd eventually closes. But everytime near my period, the cyst would begin to fill up and then the wound eventually opens up again. This happens almost every month for the past year and it's driving me crazy.

I'm currently taking birth control pills (this is a long time after I had the cyst problem). I visited a specialist and he suggested that I can get a simple operation to remove the tissues around the cyst area. I've done some researches online and found out that for some women, the cysts keep coming back even after operation. (to be continued)

Non-cancerous Breat tumor %26amp; cyst?
I would recommend getting another opinion, preferably from someone that does not share the same office of the doctor that you currently saw to see what they think is going on.

I would also recommend a consultation with an endocrinologist (a doctor that diagnoses and treats diseases and disorders that relate to hormones) if you haven't already to see what they say to see if maybe a hormone imbalance could be causing some of this.

I also have the link to a site that may help you find more information. The link is at:
