Cyst or Cancer!?

im 14 years old....


i have a lump or 2 at the bottom of my breast tissue(breast)


im kindda scard...and i hate going to the doctor and getting it checked:(


i felt it 3 days ago...and im afraid that it sumthin bad...can cysts get worse??? if it is a cyst, how can u tell?


or is it cancer?


plllleeeaaasseee! help me!





also, wats the odds for a teen to get cancer and cysts...like 80% chance...or?

I am not scaring you. But you should think of all possibilities. Not all lumps detected in the breast are cancerous. Fibrocystic changes in the breast are extremely common. Also known as fibrocystic condition of the breast, fibrocystic changes are a leading cause of non-cancerous lumps in the breast. Fibrocystic changes also cause symptoms of pain, swelling, or discharge and may become evident to the patient or physician as a lump that is either solid or filled with fluid. Complete diagnostic evaluation of any significant breast abnormality is mandatory because though women commonly develop fibrocystic changes, breast cancer is common also, and the signs and symptoms of fibrocystic changes overlap with those of breast cancer.





It is quite common young girls do not feel to tell this to doctors. You can tell to your mother or any elderly woman in your family and she can take you to a female Gynecologist for initial check up.





As already told it may not be cancerous. The risk of developing breast cancer increases throughout a woman's lifetime, and the disease is relatively rare in very young women like you.





There are a number of risk factors for the development of breast cancer, one of which is family history of breast cancer in mother or sister. The disease may also be present without any reason what so ever.





So you have to go to a physician immediately to evaluate the position and to guide you properly for further action to be taken, if found otherwise doubtful, such as mammogram, biopsy etc. In any case you have to do this immediately as detection in early stage is always better and further CANCER IS STILL AN ENIGMA.

Reply:I have no idea what the chances are or how likely it is for a 14 year old to get cysts or cancer, but I would go get it checked, just to be sure. Just remember whatever it is, you are better off getting it checked out sooner rather than later.
Reply:It's always advisable to report any changes that occur in your breasts to your doctor. However, from my point of view you said you are only 14 years old. You are at puberty stage and you are more likely to be experiencing the (hormonal) bodily changes that normally occur at puberty. These changes do affect breasts. Do see your doctor to be sure.
Reply:First off, don't be scared ... it can be nothing. Cysts can be fibrous or mass. A fibrous cyst very rarely becomes cancerous. A mass could be benign or malignant. If it's benign then, again, there's nothing to worry about. If it's malignant, depending on what stage it has been caught, could still be survivable. It is really best to consult a doctor. They could tell merely by examining you if it's fibrous or a mass. One of the ways to tell, is if the cyst moves it could be a mass. If it does not move by touch then it could be fibrous. Cancer afflicts young and old so it's best to get it over with and have it checked out. You can go to a female obstetrician-gynecologist and even a female surgeon.
Reply:Anyone at any age can get breast cancer.





At your age the oddsa are about the same as winning the lottery, so it isn't a BIG risk.





But remember, someone always wins the lottery, so get is checked, just in case!





It is more likely to be a cyst, and even more likely a hormonal variation due to puberty, but if it was cancer, the earlier you get it checked and treated, the more likely you will live to get old and wrinkled!

Odds are it's nothing, especially if you drink a lot of caffeinated beverages, but you still need to get it checked out.
