Cyst on unborn baby's head? should i be concerned?

I am 20 weeks pregnant and just have my ultrasound last week. my midewife called me today to tell me she was going to schedule me a level 2 ultrasound because they see a possible cyst on my unborn child's head. my appt. is a week away. this has made me very nervous and scared. could this cyst be cancerous? does this mean there will be abnormalities? is down syndrome a factor? a week seems like a long time to wait for questions that could affect my baby's life. am i raising concern for a possible error on my first ultrasound? ive been trying to look up info on fetal cysts and all i see is negative feedback. any information or related issues are greatly appreciated.. thank you

Cyst on unborn baby's head? should i be concerned?
yeah
Reply:You need to talk to your midwife and have her explain exactly what the deal is. Tell her your concerns. It's her job as a midwife to make you feel comfortable and answer questions for you. A week is too long to worry.
Reply:Cysts are common and it may not be a problem at all.
Reply:okay. i went to webmd.com. from what i gather this is very treatable. please get more info before you worry too much. negative feedback means nothing. find some facts. i know a week is FOREVER but try to relax a little. (easy for me to say) my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Reply:I know this is scary but I think its a bit too early to get overly concerned. the level 2 ultrasound will get a better look at things. I can't tell you what the prospectove outcome for your baby is but be prepared to go in for monitoring ultrasounds and possibly an amniocentices later on. I doid a quick web search and found sometimes these cysts are false positives which is why the higher level ultrasound is done. Just be prepared for the possibility of needing to see a perinatologist. Write down all your questions and make sure your questions are answered. being informed really helps.

do you know how big the cyst is and if its all fluid or partially solid? If it helps any I have a squishy benign tumor on my forhead about the size of silver dollar that sorta feels like a cyst. I was born before ultrasound was used routinely otherwise it might have been seen prenatally on me. It has never cause me any problems other than mild cosmetic annoyance. I am otherwise perfectly healthy.
