Is a cyst in a uterus & excess fluid in an ovarie a serious matter?

I'm a 33 yrs old who had a pelvis ultrasound done recently. The results showed I have a small cyst in my uterus %26amp; my right ovarie's size is 17cc (due to excess fluid) %26amp; the left one is 3cc (normal size).

GP said it's common in women %26amp; there's nothing to worry about, but he referred me to a gynaecologyst regarding the cyst as he said it would increased it's size %26amp; said I should consider pregnancy ASAP! as the cyst will increase it's size %26amp; will leave little room for a fetus.

I got a 2nd opinion. GP said it was nothing to worry about as the cyst was a male hormon which would not increase in size. Also, said the excess fluid in my ovarie was due to ovulation period and that it would return to it's normal size again.

Eventhough, both GPs have said this is not serious I am still worrying about it as there was inconsistency in GPs responses.

I would like to hear from you, Thank you.

I can tell you first-hand about that.

I just had my right ovary removed because the tube had filled up with fluid and it DID NOT go away after ovulation.

So make sure you get re-checked to see if this was caused by the ovulation or if it is more persistent like in my case.

You might want to consult a specialist ( like a Gynaecological Oncologist ) for another opinion, especially if there is no change in the size of your ovary.

About that cyst,if it increases in size and could complicate a pregnancy, that would be a good reason to have it removed.

I know these things can be very scary ,but consider the alternative.

I hope everything works out well for you , and you will be in my prayers.
Reply:I'd say the 2nd opinion wasn't to correct just by the size difference. Most people i know have had them removed but i'm not a doctor.
Reply:can lead to cancer
Reply:go and see another gyno please. I've recently had a op because i was trying to have a child i then found out what my gp said was a cyst turned out to be cancer. My heart fell so it was my mission to find a good gyno it took awhile but i did i had a op to remove cancer and then further down the track my uteurs had dropped and one tube was blocked due to a cyst. Please find a good gyno to help you through this ask for it to be removed.
Reply:I believe when you described your ovaries size it is 17 cm not cc's. It is not uncommon for cysts to be on ovaries esp. during ovulation and fluid. The cyst in your uterus could grow and maybe not. I guess I would have an ultrasound peroidically to see it is growing slow, fast,or not at all-to give a piece of mind.
Reply:Ovarian cysts - if they rupture, they cause pain - excessive pain. Your GP is correct that it may be present due to an excess of male hormones in your system.

The thing is that worrysome as the cyst may be, I would be worried more about the biochemical changes in your body that allowed it to occur in the first place. My ovarian cysts were due to the fact I had high insulin production (a pre-diabetes syndrome).

My niece was suffering from polycystic ovaries, preventing her from getting pregnant. The doctor confirmed the diagnosis by use of a fasting blood insulin test. I highly suggest that for you, because if you have high insulin production, it is a precursor for a lot more than just polycystic ovaries.

If the doctor won't order the test, ask the doctor to prescribe it - because you can take the prescription to a blood lab and pay cash - ask for a cash discount - may be $80-100. I suggest you go to a "Quest" lab - or any lab that does this test daily (not just once a month) as it has to be done right. If the result is 10 or higher, that may be indicative of high insulin.

My biochemical crisis happened at age 42. If you get tested now, and get on the right diet, you may save yourself a lot of problems in 10 years. For basic info on hyperinsulinemia, look at www.hufa.org.
