Dr. question?have a large ovarian cyst, doc advises hysterectomy?
I think you need to get a second opinion. You're clearly uncomfortable with the option your current doctor is offering you. I think checking with another doctor at an unrelated practice is the least you can do to educate yourself about your options.
Reply:Sounds like you don't really trust your Doctor. If this is so and you are unsure, ask for a second opinion. Am 56 had all but one ovary removed about 17 yrs ago due to cysts. Have never been on hormone replacement because the ovary is still working. Maybe he suggested doing all to have it done . Do you plan on more children? If not, why not go ahead?
Reply:If your uterus is healthy, then you really ought to lose just the affected ovary. For that matter, even you have fibroids to go along with this cyst, it still may not necessitate a hysterectomy. You're close enough to menopause that unless your fibroids are causing you problems (from what you've said, if you have them, they're not causing you problems), you can leave your uterus, as fibroids will shrink with menopause.

Your doctor is doing nothing more than saving himself time in the future. You deserve better than that. You deserve better than being plunged instantly into menopause when it's not necessary. You deserve to not be patronized by this doctor, nor to be treated like a child who can't make decisions on their own.

You deserve a different doctor. You'll find one by asking for a second opinion.
Reply:I wouldn't do it... you should definitely get second, third, fourth opinion if you have too... DON'T DO IT!!
Reply:at ur age it is recomended to take out the uterus if u dont want a child.

Cyst on a kidney?

I just had an MRI on my back, and part of the radiologist's report was that they found a 7.6mm round cyst on my left kidney. The question is - what is a "large" cyst? This seems large to me. Internet research is confusing because there is too much information and most focus on cancers and such, which is reasonable. But, I hate to get worked up on something that is common - the internet research says that these are common as well. Thanks.

Cyst on a kidney?
I have a cyst on my kidney and they said it was caused from lupus and it was nothing to worry about at the present time. At first, when they saw it, they thought it was an abcess to my kidney and was going to remove the entire kidney. After they did more tests, they realized it would not be harmful to me so need to remove. Are you sure that they know that this is a cyst or could be a kidney stone? They might choose to do a scope which goes up to your kidney and then do a biopsy. That is how they tested mine and decided not to do surgery. Very rarely do these cysts on the kidney end up being cancer. I know it is hard to not worry but do not borrow problems until you find they exist. If what they see ends up being a stone instead, they will see this from the scope that they do. Don't get worked up yet. These things are common for a variety of reasons. The size and shape though just reminds me of a kidney stone.
Reply:hey!! my name is Jacqulyn and i'm 20 years old and i have cysts on my kidneys, liver and my ovaries! Cysts are just fluid filled sacs. They can cause alot of pain also but, there is nothing to worry about PROMISE!
Reply:Five years ago they found a cyst

They removed cyst with kidney.

Surgery went very well...he has done great....never a problem.

What I am saying don't let it go

Cyst in Thoratic Region - Does anyone know how serious this is?

I am freaking out. Just found out that a MRI found a cyst to be rather large spanning the Thoracic part of my spine from the T2-3 through the T8-9 region. It is pushing my spinal cord all the way to one side. In addition there are disk bulges both in the Cervical part of my spine as well as Thoracic region where the cyst is located. Also found evidence of Degenerative disease

Cyst in Thoratic Region - Does anyone know how serious this is?
No need to freak out, it is quite common to have deep cysts in the back. As far as the degenerative Disk Disease, almost everyone gets that, all it means is that you cartlidge between your vertebrae is slowly deteriorating. Sounds scarier than it really is....
Reply:I don't know why r u asking , i see that ur condition has been diagnosed and i assume the Dr. who did also explained the problem to u.

any way i don't understand which type of cysts is it but any way anything applying compression over spinal cord will be very series and u mentioned degeneration that started and it will increase if u did not have the proper ttt which in this case is definitely surgical

Cyst under skin?

i have a small cyst under my right cheek where a small pimple used to be. The cyst is very hard and can be moved around quite easily, it is about 5mm diameter. I am wondering whether i need to see a doctor or whether it is simply a spot? Will it fade in time or could it be something more serious? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cyst under skin?
i would go see a doctor for sure. i gotten a breast exam ( diff I know lol) and she found a lump. its round and can be moved around. she id sending me to get a ultra sound done in a few weeks just to make sure everything is good. even though she is pretty sure its fine you want to get things like this checked out . just incase the lump decides to change. better safe than sorry .
Reply:I would go see a doctor. In my experience, cysts don't go away, they simply get bigger. Your doctor can recommend a plastic surgeon to remove the cyst. I had a cyst removed from my forehead about 10 years ago.

Cyst in my ovarie with Anxiety - Any suggestions?

I have had a cyst in my ovaries for over 6months. I will start taking birth control soon. When having the pain from the cyst I become very anxious and usually have panic attacks. Recently I've discovered a radiation from the belly pain to my breast and my chest.

I've scared that it can be something more. Sometimes I get really sad and just want to veg out and cry and be left alone. It seems that my life isn't the same anymore. I want to be happy and life painfree. I recently joined a church in the area and hope that helps.

Any suggestions? I take zoloft, xanax and vicodin for my pain and sometimes trazadone for sleep.

Cyst in my ovarie with Anxiety - Any suggestions?
That's quite a list of medications just because of an ovarian cyst. The pain across your chest is very likely from stress and panic. My first inclination would be that you need to see a counselor to deal with the stress and panic attacks. RELAX! Take deep breaths and exercise, exercise, exercise--it works wonders. Even walking 20-30 minutes everyday will help! Cut back on the meds. Work on the stress and sleeping will be easy--Remember exercise!
Reply:I am seeing a therapist and a phsyciatris however you spell that.

I don't like talking about it alot because it makes me feel more depressed!! I am 26yrs old and want to live a normal life, a happy life.

And I can't!! Report It

Cyst ruptured and is cancerous?

My husbands grandmother went to the hosptial the other day bc she was bleeding. They found a cancerous cyst in her, and they did emergency surgery. They said something about the cyst rupturing and spreading throughout her body. They took her ovaries and basically all that stuff out and came out and said thats all they can do. They said you cant take kemo for this type of cancer, and that thats it. Does anyone have any advice? or any stories similar to this that the person gets treated w/ and doesn't pass away?? Thats BS that, thats it, sorry we didnt get it in time and now theres nothing we can do but wait for her to die. NO i dont think so, theres gotta be something we can do?????????

Cyst ruptured and is cancerous?
She needs a second opinon but if she did not go to the doc when she had symptoms earlier so they could have caught it sooner there is not much you can do. Once cancer has metastisized your main concern is keeping the patient comfortable. The docs are not trying to be rude they are being up front and honest about the fact that she did not go to a doctor soon enough with her symptoms and so the cancer has spread. I am not sure what you are hoping to hear but when you ignore symptoms and cancer spreads you have to get a second opinion and then just figure out where to go from there. I am sorry to hear that his grandmother did not get checked out sooner but please use this as a reminder for you and your husband to get your yearly physical exams and to not ignore symptoms that could be serious. There is a chance that radiation or chemo could slow down the progression but that is why you want a second opinion.
Reply:you can ask to see a cancer specialist=good luck and I hope you find the answer you are seeking
Reply:I am sorry to tell you that this does not sound good for grandmother. without knowing all the details, if this was an ovarian cancer, she will need the love and support of her family at this terrible time. sorry for what your family is going through. Be strong for her

Cyst in Fetal Brain at 37 weeks?

I am currently 37 weeks pregnant. Yay full term! Well last week I had an ultrasound. They found a cyst about the size of a dime in the fluid surrounding the baby’s brain. The doctor is a little concerned about the size. I know cysts aren’t uncommon, but everything I have read says they should disappear by 28 weeks. The doctor also said he had never seen one this size this far along…. That makes me a little uneasy. I’m 37 and it’s still there. Has anybody out there had the same thing with their baby. What was the outcome? The doctor has talked about the possibility of autism and Down syndrome or having to go in after the baby is born and removing it, due to the size causing pressure on the brain.. I’m a little worried, but I am staying positive. Anyone who knows about this kind of thing or has been through it some reassurance would be nice. What happened in your sitch? I as well as the doctors are also worried because the baby is not gaining weight like it should….

Cyst in Fetal Brain at 37 weeks?
I haven't heard of this either, but I googled it and this is what I found:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Choroid_ple...

http://www.ucsfhealth.org/childrens/medi...

And this case history (a bit hard to read as its in medical-speak):

http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/cg...

"CASE HISTORY A

After maternal spotting, a PSG at 33 (repeated at 37) weeks' gestation showed an otherwise normal fetus with an intracranial fluid-filled, hypoechoic, flaccid structure 7.5 cm in diameter by the right lateral ventricle (Figs 1 2, 3, and 4) reported as a probable arachnoid cyst. The case was discussed with neonatology, pediatric neurology and neurosurgery consultants. With an otherwise normal fetus without hydrocephalus or midline shift, standard expectant obstetric care was advised to proceed with delivery attendance by neonatology."

TBH this does not seem to suggest any great risk to your baby, just that they would maybe need to have an neonatal unit on standby at the delivery and obviously observe your baby closely.

I would try not to worry. I had to take medication throughout my pregnancy and they scared me stiff by saying that there was a possibly that my son would experience "withdrawals" to the medication when he was born etc etc etc. Well he didn't he was just fine! Came home after a day and half in hospital and 13 months later is a happy, healthy little lad!!

Doctors sometimes voice their concerns too readily and scare patients. But then on the flip side if they don't they are accused of "withholding information".

The best person to speak to is your doctor, tell him exactly what you are worried about and that you want some definite answers and what the probability if risk to your baby is. I'm sure that everything will be fine, if it was a severe danger they'd be talking about emergency C-sections etc and as they don't seem to have mentioned this then it sounds like it will be fine for your to deliver vaginally, which wouldn't be the case if there was a severe risk to your baby.

Good luck hunny and try not to worry uneccessarily!
Reply:I have never heard of this but I do know... if God puts in your life, He will take you through it.
Reply:whatever it is that would be the outcome, you just have to accept it. it's God's will. you just have to be prepared for anything that might happen.

Reply:I really don't know very much about this but after reading the two other replies I just had to write to you. Just because it might be 'God's Will' doesn't mean that you have to take this lying down. You should think about talking to some other doctors and getting other opinions. Don't worry about offended your current Dr, this is you baby's future that you are fighting for here, if it upsets them then get a new Dr. Also find autism and DS specialists in your area and talk to them---the odds are that they have see cases similar to yours more times than a general pediatrician or your obgyn would've. Just gather as much knowledge as you can. I'm sure this is a frightening time for you, you are in my prayers and I wish you the best.

Large ovarian cyst...probably not cancer, right?

I was just told by my new ob/gyn that I have a large ovarian cyst, %26gt;5cm. When he palpated my abdomen, he easily found it, and I moaned in pain. It still hurts from that exam! I have assumed the pain was from my severe and chronic irritable bowel syndrome, so I have simply popped a couple of Percocets and tried to ignore it.

I've had ovarian cysts before (once had laparoscopy to remove them), but never this big. I've had abdominal pain and bloating for a long time (assumed it was the IBS). I also have lost almost 50 lbs over the last year with very little effort (now am almost underweight, but that belly always looks a little big).

So, percentage-wise, how many of these types of cysts are cancerous? The doc told me to come back in 6 wks to see if it's shrunk, but I'm too anxious to wait. Should I call him tomorrow and say I want to get an ultrasound ASAP?

Large ovarian cyst...probably not cancer, right?
Actually, with one that is greater than 5 cm, I am suprised the Dr didn't ask for an US now. And even in 6 weeks, that quite a long time. Usually, a US is scheduled shortly after your next cycle. Even though you have had cysts in the past and have even had them removed before, 6 weeks is a long time. True, pre-menopausle women have a lower risk of ovarian cancer, it is not an impossibility. If it is causing you this much anxiety, talk to your Dr, tell them what you want. If they don't give it to you, find another Dr. Anxiety can amplify problems and cause other problems. Remember, the doctors work for you, not the other way around. Ask for the ultrasound now if it will put you at ease, or at the very least, get it scheduled right after your next cycle.
Reply:A large part of this depends on your age. If you are still pre-menopausal, the chances of this being cancerous is virtually zero. Most ovarian cysts occur when the ovary releases an egg and the follicular cyst that forms during the release does not collapse. They are normal, even very large ones, and it is common to have more than one cyst on an ovary at a time.

If you are post menopausal, ovarian cysts are more worrisome. Just based on what you said about your doctor's reaction, I'm guessing that you haven't gone through menopause.

On another note- do not ignore or self treat pain. Pain is your body's way of signaling a problem.
Reply:Unless you're having sudden or severe abdominal or pelvic pain or pain with a fever and vomiting, there's no need to get an ultrasound now. If it were me, I might return in 4 weeks if there had been no change at all (had not shrunk).

I understand that you are in pain and feeling very nervous about possible outcomes for this. Sometimes the only thing to do is just wait and hope things will turn out okay. You'll feel more empowered if you inform yourself about how and why this is occuring and what your options are in treating them.

Is a cyst that keeps coming back something to be worried about?

About 1.5 years ago my friend found a cyst about 1.5 cm in diameter on his left upper back.

He got it surgically removed in the last quarter of '06. The doctors said it was benign.

Now, the cyst has come back again, in the exact same spot, growing below the scar where it was previously removed.

Does anyone know why? And is this something my friend should be worried about?

He is 32 this year. His mother died of breast cancer a few years ago. I have advised him to get the regrowth of the cyst checked out again but he is unwilling as he said the doctors told him that it is "unlikely to be cancer".

Is a cyst that keeps coming back something to be worried about?
IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE DOCTOR DID NOT GET ALL THE ROOT.. I HAD A CYST REMOVED FROM MY WRIST AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAVE A ROOT SYSTEM AND IF U DO NOT GET IT ALL THEY WILL COME BACK...AND IF HIS MOTHER HAD PROBLEMS THEN HE SHOULD HAVE IT CHECK AGAIN JUST TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE...BE SIDES DOCTOR ARE NOT ALWAYS RIGHT.....AND TELL HIM LIFE IS TWO SHORT TO MESS WITH A MAYBE........
Reply:He should seek Medical Advice soon.
Reply:I have one on my knee that I've had forever. I always wondered about it but never done anything about it.

Don't get me wrong I don't want to scare your friend, however you need to know if the cyst was really a cyst or a fatty tumor.

cyst do come back allot, and most of them are not cancerous. But, you never know when that one time it will become cancerous, so tell him not to put off going back. It won't hurt to go see the doctor and ask.

One more thing are you sure it came back or is it just scar tissue????
Reply:Whoa!! When it was removed did the doctor send it to pathology??

Unlikely, hell. I'd want to know, is it or isn't i!

Do ovarian cyst pains come and go?

my doctor suspected an ovarian cyst on my right side so I believe it is.Ive had pains for about 2 weeks.then it went away for about 1 week.then it came back!will an ovarian cyst do that?also, the month this pain started,I havnt gotten my period.its the first period Ive missed.by the way,Im not pregnant.would like to hear stories from women with expirience.thank u! ^_^ by the way,can those cysts stop a period?

Do ovarian cyst pains come and go?
yes pains can come and go, and depending on the size of it , it can stop ur period. u need to have tests done to see if surgery is necessary.
Reply:If I were you goes see your doctor. You can explain about your pains come and go on your right side of body. They will look into and need to have blood test. They will tell you what is going on with your pains.
Reply:I'm 20 years old and had an ovarian cysts in May of this year. The only sympton I had was very sharp pains on my left side of my stomach. On a scale of 1-10 the pain started out as a 6 then gradually increased to a 9. I went to the gyno for a pelvic exam and come to find out a had a ruptured cysts which was why the pain was so intense! They put me on birth control because as a side effect of the ruptured cysts I was spotting. The birht control helps to regulae the cycle again. Some women experience differetn symptons, but here is more on ovarian cysts. P.S- go get that pelvic exam girl!!!
Reply:Ovarian cysts can cause A LOT of pain! The pain could be a result of several things, though. It could be the cyst itself, which is basically a small sac of fluid, is causing pressure and thus pain. Or it may have ruptured, which causes a huge amount of pain. Or, after a cyst ruptures there could be some scar tissue in the spot where the cyst used to be. This scar tissue can cause pain mid-cycle (around the time you are ovulating) and end cycle (around the time of your period). It helps to get an ultrasound and pelvic exam to know exactly what is going on. Although cysts are common, you always want to stay on the safe side.

Ovarian cysts can disrupt the normal flow of your cycle. Usually dr's prescribe contraceptive pills to help regulate your cycles.

Wisdom teeth/cysts/insurance issues - how fast does a cyst grow?

Went to the oral surgeon yesterday for a consultation to find that one of my wis/teeth is severely impacted and has developed a cyst. It's small as of now, but we don't know when it started to develop. Here's the catch: after an hour long consultation she tells me that dental insurance won't cover the impacted teeth, medical insurance does. And she doesn't accept mine. I'd need a hospital surgery and it will be very expensive. A couple of things–

A) I really like this doctor and would prefer her to do the procedure. I am insanely anxious when it comes to medical ANYTHING.

B) With my current insurance, even if I saw another doctor I'd have to pay a $600 deductible+20% of procedure.

C) I have the option of changing my insurance in January to one that the current doc accepts, and it would be fully covered.

I told the doc about option C and she thinks it would be ok to wait until January. Right now they are not bothering me. How fast do these cysts typically grow? Is this a bad idea?

Screw you! Some of us don't even have medical insurance, or dental insurance and we're middle aged.

If you've got a job with medical insurance then you're doing better than most people- just shut up and pay the difference.

Some of us just have to make monthly payments to the doctors to keep from dying

Baker's Cyst?

Hi All,

Just two days ago in the kitchen while sauteing a fillet of trout, I realised that I had a tight bump behind my knee. I went to the GP after a sleepless night and he diagnosed me with a Baker's Cyst - GREAT!

I am a 32 year old man, with a family history of athritis but I do take care of myself; I'm not overweight, have a VERY health lifestyle and exersizefor up to an hour every day - running.

Here are my questions:

-Will the cyst dissapear on its own without surgery if I rest my legs?

-How long will it take to go away?

-Can I still exersize with the cycst present?

-Should I switch from running to cycling?

-Can taking Glucosamine Sulphate be part the cause of the cyst?

I am the type of person who is a little addicted to regular exersize and will be devistated if I cannot be active. Please help?

Baker's Cyst?
It should just go away on its own. Occasionally they have to be drained but its unusual. Anti inflammatories can help if you have any pain. Your GP or pharmacist can advise you re medication.

In healthy people they can occur after a knee injury but you may not remember injuring yourself and it could be just "one of those things".

Id just get on with your life as usual if i was you and forget about it, particularly if it dosnt hurt.

Here is a BBC health link that explains it very well.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/health/conditions/b...

Hope this helps.
Reply:You can just forget about your Baker's cyst, which has been there for some time, unnoticed. Cut back on exercise only if the cysts keeps enlarging , I don't think it will go away by itself, but since it causes no harm, so what? Only if it causes major discomfort an operation is required. Glucosamine has been recommended for ARTHROSIS, but recent metanalysis showed NO effect so I would not take it, just costs you money (even if you had arthrosis, which you don't).
Reply:i have had a baker cyst behind my left knee since i was a really small child (possibly born with it noticed when i was 3) i am now 26 and it has never caused me any problems i am still very active running etc and have never found exercise a problem. as for glucosamine sulphate i don't know what this is so doubt i've ever taken it and therefore wouldn't have thought it would have caused this

Possible ovarian cyst with continuous brown discharge?

I've had the thick brown discharge for a while now. In the end of november i had laser surgery to remove high grade abnormal cells on cervix. i dont know if thats related to current prob tho. End of december I experienced a sharp sudden pain on lower right abdomen during sex. thought it was a fluke but the same pain recurred during the next 2x having sex. Went to gyn and he said I had possibly ruptured an ovarian cyst during sex (he hadnt detected cyst b4). Was referred to a sonogram (still waiting for the past two weeks for those results). In the meantime i had a period that was a week late. After the period finished I had thick brown discharge that has appeared (significantly) every day for a month until now, when I began my period again today (on time this time) (still a bit brown tho, but its just the beginning). I'm worried that it may be endometriosis or another cyst or something on my uterus.anyone have any thoughts? thought i'd ask while i wait for ultrasound results.

Possible ovarian cyst with continuous brown discharge?
Hello there. Sounds like you have what is called a "chocolate cyst" on your ovary. I had the same thing and it took forever to diagnose. Sometimes they are detectable from an ultrasound, but most of the time they're not. The deep brown discharge you're having is why this specific type of cyst is called a "chocolate cyst". The discharge resembles chocolate. Yuck, I know..

Having sex will irritate it, depending on the exact location. You should rule out an ectopic pregnancy just to be on the safe side. An ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy that is present in the fallopian tube, rather than your uterus. A home pregnancy test will confirm a pregnancy - but you should see you're doc if you suspect this.

If you continue to have this dark discharge, and the pain, you should contact your doctor before you get the results back.

A heating pad on the area should help until you can see the doc. Good luck.
Reply:I think it's best if you go see your doctor

Really bad cyst..how do i help with swelling?

okay, i know its gross but i have a pretty bad cyst on my chin right now and its pretty swollen and painful. i have dealt with cysts before and have been to the dermatologist numerous times. right now all i want to know is how to calm down the swelling so i don't look like a total freak tomorrow. if you have no knowledge of what a cyst is then please don't answer. its really not nessasary to answer this question with "wash your face!" i already do all the time so stop telling me too. i need someone who knows what they are and ethier has had experience or knows what someone else has done to relieve the swelling. if you've had them i know you can agree with me that they suck!! more then just about anything else skin wise.

thanks for your help!!

Really bad cyst..how do i help with swelling?
I'm what my doctor has called "cystic" and now I take Evening Primrose Oil Caplets. Just one a day does the trick for me (it reccommends 2-3). I've acually had a cyst on my chest go down in swelling till it was gone. I told another doctor (OK, OK, my gyno) about this and she said that it's an anti-inflammatory and that's probably why it works. Evening primrose is also good for women's health and regulation and stuff, yadda yadda. I just like them because they work. Try it, give it about 3-5 days and you'll see it change.
Reply:Put a hot washrag on it helped one I had. It popped back up, but it relieved the swelling a bit. It was on my neck and I had to get it cut out to make it go away.

Complex Ovarian cyst during pregnancy?

I've been diagnosed with a complex ovarian cyst (possibly endometrioma) in my left ovary for more than a year now. Its size has been quite consistent (7.5 cms).

I was advised that, considering my age and the fact that I wanted to have a baby, I should try to conceive and if I did then the chances are that the cyst wouldn't grow any further and might actually shrink or even disappear during the lactation period.

Now I am 40 days along, my doctor confirmed the pregnancy but when she did the physical exam she said she felt a huge mass (about 10 cms) near my pelvis, which she thinks might be twin pregnancy or a dramatically overgrown cyst or may be the pregnancy happened in the tube or there could be a number of other things.

So, to alleviate her doubts she has asked me to have an ultrasound next week .

I am really worried. Is there a chance that I may need a surgery? Wouldn't that harm the baby? What is the treatment method if the baby is formed in the tube?

Complex Ovarian cyst during pregnancy?
I am sorry, but your question is much too professional for anyone on Yahoo to answer. This situation you are in really needs good medical attention. No use worrying what the lump is whether its a baby or a cyst. You will have to wait for the ultrasound, try to calm yourself with some herbal stuff like "Rescue Remedy" which are safe Bach flowers drops to calm you. The one thing I can give you is a site about pregnancy in the Fallopian tubes, but still, try not to think about the worst, maybe things are ok? Good luck to you with all my heart.

Has anyone here had a cyst removed?

Have you ever had a cyst removed? From where, and how long did it take you to heal?

I have a cyst about the size of a large pea just below the skin, but apparently it is also in some tissue. I went to a dermatologist, who said I can get it removed, but it's not life threatening. He said if it keeps growing (it just started growing recently after having been there for 2 yrs) then I should go ahead and get it done because the bigger the cyst, the bigger the scar, and if it grows, at some pt I will have to have it removed regardless. But he also said that everyone he knows who had a cyst like this removed said it wasn't worth it, because it's a pain to heal from? Something like that. So he said it was completely up to me. I am leaning towards getting it done, but wanted to know what I was in for.

Anyway, if anyone can share their experience, I'd appreciate it. Anything about scarring, pain, recovery time, etc.

The cyst is on my upper abdomen.

Has anyone here had a cyst removed?
Yes, from my scalp. It took about a week to heal and there was virtually no pain.

Now, when the cyst is removed, it may or may not involve removing a small bit of skin. You'll get stitches either way, and a very small scar. Not something to worry about.

I suggest you go ahead and get that cyst removed.
Reply:Yes, I had a fatty tumor removed the size of a pea from my inner thigh. It is fast and relatively painless. I guess the shot to deaden is the worst part. I did not even need stitches. It is worth getting it over with...
Reply:i had a cyst removed from arm and no big deal. he deadened it took it out [didnt hurt] left a very thin scar and is not very noitceable
Reply:I believe that you may have a condition called Hidradenitis Supprativa.of re-occurring boils/ cysts/abscesses , that are often misdiagnosed as ingrown hairs, herpes, being unclean or over wieght and folliculitis. This is a newly diagnosed skin condition , but there is a lot of info out there.

Here is a link :

or the HS_USA page is ..

If this sounds like it might be you, READ it, PRINT it out, and TAKE it to your DOC.

Its better to try to start treatment soon, it can spread over the body if left untreated. These boils can become quite large and painful. Sometimes even lasting for weeks or months , do not attempt to POP them they can then tunnel under your skin and spread all over the body. Most common areas are armpits, groin, binkni line, inner legs, and intimate places and basically anywhere that sweats and rub against clothing. Stress is a big inducer.

There is a support group at MSN

This is also a link to a PDF of a study in Germany about HS and if it is genetic... I thought it was intresting :

and a yahoo one, and I am open for questions!

I have had this for 8 years, I was misdiagnosed for a LONG time, It was very embarrassing, painful and scary. I am just trying to help out so you don’t have to wait as long as I did.

Currently I have 5 , 2 next to each other on my right inner groin. 2 in my upper HAIR area, and 1 med sized on my **** on the panty line, and they do come every week or so. I find that certian foods, not having a regular showering regimen, wearing clothing that irratiates the area.. and STRESS usually are a precusor to getting one.

I also prefer to use NEXCARE bandages.. there are 2 kinds I like for comfort and stay put reasons..

the first is like a clear bandaid.... soft on the edges with a small area of bandage... helps with those buggers when they are on bikni line.. usually stay for me.. or occasionally on my inner thigh for those I like the foamy sponge like ones that are beige in color.. I think they are 3M.

Can a cyst be a problem?

Recently, I've had a lot of problems with my ankle. I sprained it real bad a few months ago, and it still has pain. I had an MRI to see what the issues were, and the doctor said he found a small cyst in my ankle. I asked about it, and he said it had probably been there for years and it had nothing to do with the problem. After the MRI, the pain in my ankle "moved" to a spot that seemed close to were the cyst was in the MRI. I told my physical therapist about it, and she repeated the doctor's words. Does anyone know if a traumatic sprained ankle can trigger a cyst to cause pain or even worse? Has anyone heard of this happening?

Can a cyst be a problem?
I have the same condition in my knee. It is caused by your body's attempt to "wash away" the inflammation caused by the damage done. It will either go away on its own, as your body re-absorbs the fluid it created, or you can have it removed surgically. Unless it causes you great pain, don't worry about it. Give it at least a year to heal.
Reply:Cysts are rarely dangerous, but can certainly cause pain. It makes sense that an injury would agrivate the cyst even more. Still, in some cases cysts do need to be removed, especially if they cause too much pain, so just listen to your doctor, and don't take any of our words for it.
Reply:yes it's a problem
Reply:Don't worry about it. Cysts in muscles will reabsorb after time. If you are in alot of pain, you can have it removed, but the surgery will leave you down for several days, (my friend had one in her back removed). The only time that there is a real issue surrounding cysts is when they form on an organ (they can rupture or burst).
Reply:A sprain or injury can cause a cyst to from also. The cyst communicates with the joint or the surrounding tendons and can get large enough to press on nerves causing pain. Cysts can be drained but they usually come back since they communicate with the joint and tendons so they fill back up. They are best removed if they are causing pain, if not, you can leave them be. I'd recommend going through a round of physical therapy to see if that helps and if it doesn't help, you should consider having the cyst removed. Now if the cyst or lesion is in the bones of your ankle, that's something different and can be the cause of multiple of 1-2 severe sprains causing injury to the cartilage of the joint which can cause formation of a cyst in the bone. Those may need to be operated on to relieve pain in the joint. What do they do? If it's a cartilage problem, you can actually get it replace the cartilage, but do talk to your surgeon about it for more info. Hope this helps!

Ruptured ovarian cyst?

I had pains in my lower left abdominal area for a few days. Went and saw my family doctor and he believed that it was an ovarian cyst. He did a pelvic exam and then ordered an ultrasound for me. He informed me that it was nothing to worry about but if the pain increased, to come back. I believe that the pelvic exam caused my cyst to rupture as that night I was in excrutiating pain but as it was after 11pm and I was home alone with my 2 children, I dealt with it. I called my doctor in the morning to ask if he needed to see me %26amp; I told him I believed the cyst had ruptured. He informed me that there's nothing they can do for me and should not bother coming down to his office. I have booked an ultrasound but cannot get in for 6 weeks.

I spent the next 2 days at home recovering and went to work today. I am finding that I am still pretty tender %26amp; sore. How long does it take to recover. Also, I've read on the internet that you can develop an infection?

Ruptured ovarian cyst?
hi i know the pain uror have been going through i am now 28 but have had 12 of these dam things happen to me the first time the dr said i am over doing my sport and need rest 2 days latter ended up in emergency cause the pain was so bad i couldnt walk they thought it was my apendix but wrong it was 2 burst cyst now i get them aroung every 2-3mnths and cause i am on heart meds i cant take meds for them so of i go to hospital each time but now i have had my tubes done due to cancer i and my ovaris r gone i no longer worry .

But i belive u should go to a gyno and have them check u out to insure all is ok if the pain is still happening go 2 the hospital and do find a new dr that is willing to work with u and this problem casue being female i have been told it can stuff up ur body for any future children u may wish to have and would hate this to happen to any other person

good luck take care and look after yourself
Reply:you should get a second opinion from a gynecologist. I had the same problem and had endometriosis as well as multiple cyst. The can remove large cyst if necessary, and either treat the endometriosis or surgery. Do Not Live in Pain .
Reply:I've had 2 rupture on me thus far in my life. My heart goes out to you for it is just awful.

I did not develop any infections but then, I marched into my doctor'd office and demanded to be checked over just to be sure. I would suggest you do the same. It is better for you to have peace of mind.

In future, should you feel a new cyst coming one, I would ask your doctor about going on anti-inflamitory drugs. This is what helped stop more of mine from getting to the rupture point.

I might also suggest: maybe it is time for another doctor!

Best to you!
Reply:Go to the ER...your doctor is nuts...when a cyst ruptures everything that was in the cyst enters your body...and yes it can cause serious infection that could spread through out your body. I get cysts all the time they usually wind up removing them when they get to the point that they are too painful....we all get them during ovulation but they usually disipate. But a rupture is a lot more serious.

I have listed some links below that explain a lot more. Good Luck!

My dog cyst got popped. Help!?

My little dog had a fatty cyst under skin, no bigger then a little pebble ball. While massaging her back, I felt her cyst, and as I did, my other dog scratched at me which caused me tighten my hands in pain. I realize I still had the cyst in my hand, and I crushed it. I heard like a popping sound. My dog didn't seem to notice it, but Im worried.

My dog cyst got popped. Help!?
Take him to the vet just to be sure.
Reply:take her to the vet to see what kind of cyst it was he will help you out
Reply:for immediate treatment, boil and cool some water, add salt and give a good salt wash, using fresh cotton wool or tissue for each "stroke" over the open cyst area. Do this a couple of times tonight and then again tomorrow morning until you can either speak to a vet or take your dog to the vet. if it looks yukky, clean it in the salt water a bit more often, try to keep it as clean as possible. if you are REALLY worried tonight, phone an on-call vet (see yellow pages or online) and see what they advise.

Ruptured Ovarian Cyst-No Period?

Hello-

On Monday I went and had an ultrasound for some abdominal pain and heavy bleeding. I was informed by my physician that I have a ruptured ovarian cyst on my left side, and a 3cm cyst on the right. All week long I have been in intense pain, to the point it makes me sick, but I was told that would be expected since the cyst is still collapsing from the rupture. However...I was due for my period this past Weds. I am ALWAYS on time, and now I am concerned. I took a pregnancy test last night and it came back negative. What should I do? Please...no crazy answers or ridiculous statements...if you haven't been through this don't bother responding. It's stressful enough as it is.

Thank You.

the cyst has thrown your cycle out of whack you will probably skip this month call your doctor and ask them

If the baby is formed in the tube they will have to do surgery to remove it or there is a 50% chance you and your other baby will die. If it is a cyst they will probably either recommend you wait until you are full term and have a c-section (and then they will remove the cyst at the same time) or else they will just wait until after you have the baby. They won't do surgery and risk the baby for the cyst ok? Take a deep breath and try not to worry about it until after the ultrasound. Be grateful that your Dr. caught it so early and is doing an ultrasound. Good luck and I hope everything turns out ok for you!

Ruptured ovarian cyst, how long does pain last afterwards.?

i found out last friday i had a cyst, i have had two weeks of pain and pg symptoms, turns out it was from the cyst. pain started sat night and went into early sunday morning. the pain was sharp side pains, and pinching pain in my ovaries. it got really bad and i was doubled over in pain crying and then it would settle down and get bad all over again. well then i got charley horse cramping in my abodmen and i was on the ground in tears and in fetal position i scared my roommate because i was crying and screaming kind of. so i went to the er,after a bunch of tests which showed nothing (they didnt do an ultra sound since i already had one which showed a cyst) she did a pelvic,i still had pain on the right side, when she pushed down it sent shooting charley horse pains up my side, it was determined that it had ruptured. im still getting sharp side pains, with some pinching pain. not nearly as bad, but still hurts, how long until it goes away? they said 2 days. never had this happen before.

Ruptured ovarian cyst, how long does pain last afterwards.?
I JUST got home from the hospital and was diagnosed with a ruptured ovarian cyst. It happened two days ago and was instantly painful. Sharp pains in my abdomen and up my right side under my ribs and diaphragm. It was extremely painful to breath and in fact I couldn't breathe at all while laying down. I had to sleep sitting up. I finally went in to the emergency room and after all of the tests (pelvic exam, cat scan, ultra sound, blood, urine and saliva) they had concluded that I did indeed have a cyst and that it did rupture and was leaking fluid (blood) into my abdomen and around my organs. There is nothing to be done except keep popping the vicodin for pain, and wait for my body to reabsorb the fluid that has leaked into my abdomen. However, it was very important that I went and had all of these tests done because if the cyst were still bleeding, my life would be in danger. The fact that my cyst had stopped bleeding on it's own meant that I was able to be discharged from the hospital to come home and monitor my pain. If it gets worse or if I have fever and/or vomiting...I am to return immediately because it could start bleeding again. It has been two days and I still have pain. The doctor said it would last for at least 2 weeks but that is should lessen a little bit each day.

If you still have terrible pain and especially if it gets worse and is accompanied by fever and/or vomiting...you should return to the hospital and demand more testing.

(when you sit or stand, the fluid leaked from your ruptured cyst settles at the bottom and makes it easier to breathe, but when you lay down the fluid floats up and rests at the bottom of your diaphragm causing worse pain and making it harder to breathe. Keep this in mind when the pain starts to set in.)
Reply:my daughter has your same problem. You need to go to the gynecologist and start on the birth control pill. It will prevent any future cyst from forming

An ovarian cyst that burst - could it cause a positive pregnancy test??

I had an extremly large ovarian cyst for the longest time, and I was 2 weeks late when I started bleeding, but not too heavy. I went in 2 days later and the doctors said I had miscarried, and they followed my levels back down to 0 .... okay so the thing is, my levels were only 27 the day I went to the hospital, and they couldn't have been higher than that, because a few days before I tested with HPT and they came back negative. I heard that Cysts carry the HCG hormone, so Im wondering if my cyst burst and that's why when i was suposed to be 6 1/2 weeks pregnant, my hcg level was only 27 - (as I stated a little bit ago, was taking hpts every 2 days since 5 days before my missed period, all negative, but suddenly when I bled for 2 days I got positives) - so I was just curious if that may have caused my positive tests??.....

An ovarian cyst that burst - could it cause a positive pregnancy test??
Sweetheart. Having gone through the same experience I know a cyst can't cause HCG levels. The chances that you were pregnant are very possible. I to had very low HCG levels and my Dr went in to remove what he thought was an ectopic Pregnancy (Fetus outside the uterus) I was having pain so they went in to see. Turns out, it was 3 cysts, 1 of which burst and 2 others. After having them removed and drained my HCG levels skyrocketed.

From personal experience, Cysts have caused 2 miscarriages very early on. We almost lost a 3rd but thanks to some wonderfully, in tune Drs. Everything turned out well

I'm sorry. I hope you will be alright with this and make it through. Feel free to talk with other women about it. It's very healing!
Reply:no it won't.just have a recheck with your doctor
Reply:I think maybe you are hoping that is the reason for the positives, so that you don't have to grief for something you were wanting so badly. However, I am sad to say, that would not have caused your postives. I am sorry for your loss, and here's to hoping you get a bundle very soon.

I have a ganglion cyst growing between the ring finger and pinky, will this effect my guitar skills?

Speed Metal guitar is the #1 passion in my life, and I'm 15 years old

Will getting a ganglion cyst cut off effect my playing?

I haven't really had trouble playing with the cyst here, its just a thick little bubble

Reply:i had a cyst removed on the top of my hand, and it has affected it's use in many ways. but mayb since we use r fingers 4 evrything u will learn how to control it. but its not too much of a big deal. its weaker than my other hand. and there its certain positions i cant put it in. but other than that its normal/ b careful after surgery. try not to hurt it. its easily done believe me! i was always bumping it into things.
Reply:One of my friends had the same thing, had it cut out, %26amp; never had a problem. The cyst is usually somewhat shallow %26amp; can be aspirated with a needle. If you aren't having any numbness or tingling %26amp; you have no artery involvement, then it should be quite simple. If they have indicated a hand surgeon needs to be involved then you may have a little longer recovery time %26amp; they might have you wear a splint for awhile during recovery. Either way, you should be back playing your guitar soon.
Reply:I have a ganglion cyst in my wrist and I had 3 options when I found out about it.

1. Do nothing

2. Have it surgically removed

3. Have a shot or quarterzone into it, put it in a cast for 6 weeks and it should go away.

My cyst was wrapped in nerves so they couldn't do surgery but they did the shot and for some reason it didn't go totally away but it is a great ton better. My cyst went hollow and they had to rewrite medical books because of me. I was the first patient to not go away or stay the same. Go figure. I don't even know it's there unless it's really cold or I'm doing too much with my wrist.

Why don't you talk to your doctor?

Is a cyst?

is a cyst a bump sac thing that moves around under your skin ?cus i have a vagina cyst thats what doctors say and it moves around under my skin ..is that really a cyst ..sorry i have a hard time trusting doctors ,i know i should but anyways

Is a cyst?
Sounds like a Bartholin's gland cyst. Your Dr. would be able to help you. You might need a shunt/catheter to help you drain it. It is only temporary.
Reply:Yes that's exactly what a cyst is.
Reply:Yes this is a cyst.
Reply:If in doubt get an appointment to see your obgyn.

(as you did not clarify if you seen one or a family physician).

If still in doubt, get a second opion.

Cyst are scary things, and should not be taken lightly.

Best luck, God bless
Reply:Yes %26amp; why didn't they take it off when you were there?

They are dimwads!

Is it possible for a cyst to form in the same location that another cyst was removed?

I had a sebaceous cyst surgically removed from my chest 2 months ago. In the exact same that the doctor removed the cyst and the sac, I have what appears to be another cyst. Can a cyst form again since the sac was removed? I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow but was just wondering what could this be now.

Is it possible for a cyst to form in the same location that another cyst was removed?
Yes. Especially if the cyst capsule is not removed totally. Are you sure that your doctor was able to remove the capsule? The other reason I can think of is since a sebaceous cyst is a hair follicle that has been obstructed and there is accumulation of sebum, probably hair follicles in the same area or adjacent to the pervious cyst get obstructed again therefore forming another sebaceous cyst.

About ovarian cyst..?

i'm 20 years old and i found out that i had a small ovarian cyst about 4 months ago and i was given birth control pills to help it go away. i'm not sure which side the cyst is on, but i'm beginning to feel pain on my lower left side and i don't know if that has anything to do with the cyst. but then when i pass gas it tends to go away slowly, but not completely. i still feel something on my lower left side right now, but it's not painful. this is the second time i've felt it, the first time was last month. can someone tell me if they've felt the way i've felt? and what i can do to minimize to the pain if it happens again? thanks.

About ovarian cyst..?
Hi.. :) I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing a lot of discomfort now.

There are many many types of ovarian cyst. I assume that you have already done an ultrasound, and therefore was diagnosed with a small ovarian cyst. And considering your age (20 years old) and the treatment that was given... I think you have a functional cyst. It's less likely to be a fibroid cyst as it would show very differently on the ultrasound.

I think there is no need for you to worry. Functional cysts are harmless and they rarely cause symptoms, unless it is really huge and obstructing the surrounding structures in your body. This is HIGHLY unlikely, because the cyst would NOT grow so fast over 4 months! :) And even if it causes pain, it certainly doesn't get relieved by passing out gas.

I feel that the pain and discomfort that you are experiencing has got something to do with your bowels instead of the ovary. How frequently have you been passing motion? Has it changed lately? Are you experiencing constipation? Do you have chronic diarrhoea?

Constipation is the commonest cause of large bowel obstruction in the young. So eat more fruits, vegetables and drink lots of water! :) Other possibilities are diverticulitis, irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease. It is important that a doctor asks you more questions to determine the nature of the pain/discomfort you are experiencing.

If the pain persists and you are very disturbed by it, then I advice that you see a doctor. What I have written are merely suggestions, from the impression that I'm getting with limited information.

So, all the best, dear! :)
Reply:you might be having a stroke
Reply:the birth control pill works only if it is a hormonal cyst. you may want to check with your doctor again to see if it is a fibroid cyst. fibroid cysts will not shrink with horomone treatment. don't wait too long to see your doctor. it can turn out to be very serious. i know from experience.
Reply:Yep. I've had ovarian cysts on and off since i was 16 - and that was a while ago. Mine were not hormonal, but stress induced.

When you ovulate, you tend to switch sides per month - one month the left, one the right, etc. Cysts tend to flair up and hurt when you ovulate on that side.

Cysts also tend to "pop" sometimes. that can lead to a sudden severe pain that goes to a dull pain that lessens over the next couple of days. Keep an eye on your temperature - if you have a fever for more than 24 hours, you could have an infected cyst and should go see the doctor about it. Otherwise, the popped cyst will heal on its own and go away.

Bartholing glnad cyst?

mom has a bartholin gland cyst that has fills and drains over the last 7 years. Sometimes with months assymptomatic. this last drainage left a pink thread like piece of tissue hanging from the drained cyst. she is seeing a dr next week but I'm worried. Anyone ever heard anything like this? Could it be a piece of the cyst sac? I suffer from severe anxiety and this is throwing me over the edge.

Bartholing glnad cyst?
Awe don't worry people get these all the time. What your mom needs to do if she keeps getting these that often is have the gland itself removed. This can be done as an outpatient procedure. The doctor I work with does it all the time on patients who have re-occurring Bartholin Cysts. That is what I would suggest. Instead of having them drained and drained and having them become infected and swollen, forget it, just have them taken out! This is safe and suggested if it is re-occurring.

I can see you being worried with it being your mom but just know it is common, and something that can be easily taken care of. It is a nuisance but not dangerous. I'd hope the Gynecologist she sees suggests that she has those glands taken out.

The thread like tissue could easily be tissue that is healing, since they do make an incision to open up the cyst. I don't see how it could be anything else. Make sure you or your mom bring up the removal of the cysts OK. This will help her greatly and put you more at ease.

I have been diagnosed with ovarian cyst.?

I have had it for about 3 months now. It is 7cms in diameter. My doctor has asked me to go in for a laparoscopy to find out what kind of cyst it is. My CA-125 test is normal. I asked my doctor if there is any mediaction I could try, but she said there is no such magic pill that will make the cyst vanish. When I type 'ovarian cyst' in some search engines I get to read the Q %26amp; A's in some forums. In that I found that many women have said their doctors gave them birth control pills and the cyst got drained. But my doctor says these pills can only in helping prevention of cyst formation in the future. So we have to do laparoscopy now to find out if it is benign and also because if a cyst this big has not gone away in 3 months then it has to be removed or else it may damage the ovaries. Please kindly advise.

I have been diagnosed with ovarian cyst.?
I have had the laproscopy procedure done for endometriosis. It is out patient surgery and they make an incision through your belly button or right under it. I had a couple days for recovery, then I was back to my normal activity. I have had an ovarian cyst as well, I never had surgery for it, it ruptured on its own. I know they can be fairly common.
Reply:I think you're going to have to have surgery to remove it. Ovarian cysts can get huge and will make you uncomfortable.
Reply:There are a few kinds of cysts and it's possible you have one that will not respond to hormone therapies. Because the ovary produces hormones as well as eggs, you should take it seriously and listen to your doctors and follow their instructions promptly. Express your concerns so that your doctor can address them.
Reply:The women I know that have had an ovarian cysts have had to get surgeries. They can get quite painful, and often are large. The best solution would be a surgery.
Reply:Try to stay positive and get a second opinion. Cysts run in my family and we have all turned out okay. I am sure your going to be okay too. I say a prayer for you.

good luck

Teething: Eruption Cyst?

My daughter had an eruption cyst on her upper gum, she went to the doctors because it made me nervous at first... didnt know what it was. Her doctor told us that it meant a tooth was right on it's way out. The cyst broke 3 days ago - still no sign of a tooth? Anyone else's little one have a cyst? How long did it take for the tooth to come in? Thanks!

Teething: Eruption Cyst?
My daughter had one on her lower gums at 6 months old. The doctor actually popped it during her check-up. She didn't get her first tooth until a little after 10 months!!

So, it could be a while yet! Every baby is different. At her 4 month check, her doctor said she would be an early teether...yeah right! LOL
Reply:It varies widely from days to months.... Sometimes if they're slow they're hard to wait for!!

Quarter-sized cyst in armpit...?

I have an infected cyst under my arm. It's hot to the touch, red, hard (ok...that's borderline naughty-sounding....) and it's REALLY painful.

I'm going to the doctor tomorrow, and am wondering what they might do. Lance and drain it? Will I need stitches? How badly does it hurt? Will I be able to return to work afterward? I'm starting to get nervous!!!

I've read tons of stuff online, but would like to hear from someone who has gone through it.

Also...I had a small one on my face drained a few years ago, but it was tiny. I've also had Bartholins Cysts about 5 tmes and those were HELL. So...I am assuming this is somewhere in the middle?? (I'm thinking about making a Garbage Pail Kid card of myself and calling it "Cyst-er Christian" -- don't know why I get these so much!)

Anyway...thanks!

Quarter-sized cyst in armpit...?
Yo dude , I had one of those on the side of my neck . At the time I got it , I was going to the hospital for brown reclouse spider bites . That's what I thought it was . I had several bites on me and was really sick . I though that was a bite a well but while I was laying on the bed in the emergency room , suddenly I was surrounded by doctors and befor I knew it they had me pinned where I couldn't move and this other doctor stuck me in the neck with that needle . a few minutes later , couldn't feel nothing when he lanced and drained . He was done in five minutes and never bleed more then a few drops. Healed up real nice with no stitches or even a band-aide . That first shot ot two to deaden , aint gona lie to ya , it's gonna hurt . But you'll be better when they get done with ya . Just relax .

As for my spider bites , treatment for them is not bad if you catch it early . 2nd or 3rd day and you;ll be ok . any later than that , and it get's real bad real fast.

Good luck and just relax. You'll be fine.

HELPPP!! Eyebrow CYST?

I spotted the cyst last night when it only looked like a bug bite at the worst. When I got home.I noticed ingrown hair where the cyst was forming so I squeezed out the little liquid there was so I could reach the ingrown hair. The hair was too short to pluck so i gave up and went to bed.

This moring, I looked at it again and it looks like a beginning of a scab forming there.

Ingrown hair, cyst, scab. How do I get rid of it?????

HELPPP!! Eyebrow CYST?
That happened to me too a couple of times. I would remove the scab until you can reach the hair and pull it out. Because if the scab grows over the hair, it will just repeat and get infected again. Put a hot washcloth over it to soften it. And if you have astringent or alcohol to run on it so it will be sterile.

Also, make sure you tweezers are sterile. Clean them with alcohol. That's good you drained the puss.

Give it a few days and it will heal away. I know it hurts right now.

Testicular Cyst/Tumor?

When I was 14 years old, I noticed a very small bump(to small to describe) on my testicle...10 years later its the size of a pea. I first checked it out and the doctor said it was nothing...but now I am having testicular pain and right legt pain...this testicle hang much further down than the left one and the sperm cord is a lot longer(I think I have a vericocele) also a small cyst on the sperm cord too..I am going to see a doctor very soon but I am worried..I have had no tenderness of breast, no real back pain, I also play basketball everyday...anybody have a similar experience? Arent testicular tumors inside the testicular? I have constant pain in this testicle now and upper leg pain

Testicular Cyst/Tumor?
Just go to the doctors.
Reply:LISTEN TO CERIBRAL...

It may not be but time is the only thing you cannot buy but 10 years seems too long to be a cancer
Reply:oh, this sounds EXACTLY like a varicocele. go talk to your doc, this could effect your sex life later on, not to mention it can make even walking around/sitting uncomfortable.

Bartholin Cyst going away on its own?

I was diagnosed with a Bartholin cyst about 13 months ago. Over the past year it has doubled in size and is now the size of a golf ball. I've tried sitz baths and am now scheduled for surgery in 6 weeks. Do you think there is any chance it will go down between now and then? It is not infected just huge and a bit uncomfortable.

Thanks

Bartholin Cyst going away on its own?
Mine never went away on its own. I had to have it lancet. With antibiotics it should feel better in a few days.
Reply:I'd go to the doctor and get it lanced, you'll wish you did it a year ago. Get it done now and it should be gone in 6 weeks if all goes right.

Ovarian Cyst?

About a month ago i went to the hospital because i was complaining of pressure pain in my pelvic area (i.e. the uterus, lower stomach) and they did a CT scan and noticed clear pelvic fluid and decided it was from a cyst that had ruptured. I then went to my gyno on wednesday and he did my pelvic exam and noticed I had blood at the top of my uterus and I actually started my period 3 hours later but he wanted to do an ultrasound on me a week after i started my period to see my ovaries when they r most enlarged to see if im prone to cysts. The period I had was so bad like I had really bad cramping and the period ended today im pretty sure and I still feel like bloated out like pressure is just sitting there in my pelvic area/lower abdomen. i also feel like im having cramping around that area almost like menstrual cramping at some little times. I also feel like there is a puffiness feeling in the area below my stomach. Could this mean I may have another cyst?

Ovarian Cyst?
The cysts are going to come and go. They are fybroid cysts, I have them too. They sometimes bring on cramps, other times not. Go get the ultrasound to see if any of them are unusually large, if he does find something that he's concerned about, he will schedule another ultrasound for 3 mos. later. Most of the time the cysts go down before you go for the 2nd ultrasound. That has always been the case w/me and my sister.
Reply:yes sweetie

VERY POSSIBLE

you should go back to the doctor
Reply:It could mean that. But if your doctor just saw you I think it would have been found. Perhaps you just had a rough time this month. If you are worried, go back and explain what you felt; perhaps they will take another look.
Reply:The symptoms sound quite positive to there being a second cyst present. You need to have another ultrasound or CT scan to confirm or deny tha fact. make an appointment straight way and don't leave it to get any bigger.
Reply:Yes you probably are prone to ovarian cyst and that is very pain full. I see a lot of women in the ED with ovarian cysts. You are probably estrogen dominant and lack progesterone and iodine. Take 500 meq of iodine daily like 2 capsules of kelp and use all natural progesterone cream like prosperin. Avoid hormone meat and dairy as this will increase your (artificial) estrogen. See source

A cyst in the breast?

A cyst in the breast?
cyst are painful especially when you are going to get your period. If you drink alot of drinks with caffeine I would cut back. Caffeine aggravates them and makes them painful. I used to get them when I drank alot of soda with caffeine. So just drink decaf soda. I hope this helps.

Ovarian Cyst?
Usually women don't ever hear about their cysts, we get that "cramping" pain near our periods when the cyst ruptures but we never know what it is...

When I was a teenager I had what they call poly-cystic ovaries, I'd get more than one cyst at a time (very painful)

Hormonal therapies can do wonders as far as that goes.

To answer your question, yes you could have another cyst but the puffiness doesn't mean that you do, your only clear way to find out is to visit your doctor and they will either do an ultrasound or another medical imaging proceedure to see if there is another cyst.

For the moment all you can do is manage the pain, much like you would during your cramping before or during your period.

Sebaceous cyst between my eyes?

I have a cyst between my eyes above my nose. Im planning to remove it but i am wondering how the doctor will remove it and how large the scar will be. My dad also had a similar cyst in his cheeks few years ago and he decided to have it removed. Does my cyst more complicated to remove because it is between my eyes or the doctor will do the same procedure as normal?

Sebaceous cyst between my eyes?
I also have one though not in the same location. The procedure as I understand it is to make a tiny incision, manipulate the cyst to separate it from surrounding tissue and draw it out with hemostats through the small incision. The doctor told me I will not have any stitches, so it should be a very small thin scar if any. Ask about using neosporin on the incision to help-it can reduce appearance of scars.
Reply:It is very safe to remove it..the sebaceous cyst is only in your skin..be assured the doctor will remove it with utmost care.
Reply:i have one on my leg. if u apply a heatpad to it twice a day, it should go away, of coure surgery is faster and eaiser and you wont look like cyclops for a long time. u will have a scar prolly, cuz it will get stiched up after the procedure is over. it might be harder if its between ur eyes rather on ur chest, but i doubt that will be much of a problem.
Reply:I have a sebaceous cyst in my scalp just past my forehead. I had it removed about 25 years ago. The doctor anaesthetized the area around it, and slit open the skin, and removed the rather large cyst, then stitched the opening he'd made. It has since grown back, and I'm sure that the procedure will have changed slightly.

A facial cyst, especially one in such a prominent place as between your eyes, should be handled by a dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon. Instead of surface stitches, the doctor may hide the stitches or do "butterfly" bandages to keep the scar from being visible.

It's not necessarily a more complicated place to have a cyst removed (unless the cyst is so deep it has grown into a sinus), just an appearance issue.
Reply:I believe that you may have a condition called Hidradenitis Supprativa. It is a condition of re-occurring boils/ cysts/abscesses , that are often misdiagnosed as ingrown hairs, herpes, being unclean and folliculitis. This is a newly diagnosed skin condition , but there is a lot of info out there.

Here is a link :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hidradeniti...

There is some support groups at MSN

and yahoo, and I am open for questions!

I have had this for 8 years, I was misdiagnosed for a LONG time, It was very embarrassing, painful and scary. I am just trying to help out so you don’t have to wait as long as I did.

Ganglion Cyst Removal Cost($)?

Ganglion Cyst Removal Cost/?

I have a ganglion cyst well at least that what the doctor think it is. They have to put me a sleep because they have to someother stuff with the bone(wrist) that the ganglion cyst is near. How much could i be looking at? Do i have to pay for the general anesthesia?

It was like this since april and it is gettin bigger...and the blood flow isnt normal...i go for surgery in a week or so...How much is the doctor bill going to be? Anyone ever had this done before. How much did it cost? They tried draining to 3-4 times but it was too hard and thick. Anyone ever had this done. How much did it cost?.Hopefully no more than 500 bucks.

Ganglion Cyst Removal Cost($)?
I don't know what "other" work you having done or why, the cyst must be removed and the cost is usually put together. I don't know why your looking at the cost when it's going to help your health but, I had one in my wrist and they fixed my hand, put a plate in, the total was $7000.00. I don't think you can get a tooth pulled for $500.00.

The anesthesiologist will charge that much.
Reply:Do you have health insurance? If you do, don't worry! The surgeon/surgery center/anesthesiologist should file with your insurer, then you can arrange to pay the rest.

We cannot even estimate what this will cost you--so much depends on your location (state), how complicated the procedure will be, if there will be a biopsy, how much/what type of anesthesia you will need, how much time you spend in the recovery room....there are just too many variations.

If you do not have health insurance, ask your physician or surgeon for a cost estimate. Ask him/her to include an estimate of what the anesthesia will cost. In fact, ask for a "rough estimation" of the total costs. Ask if you may arrange to make payments.

I worked in healthcare billing for 7 years and most hospitals and surgeons are willing to work with uninsured patients who want to make payments.

I had a ganglionic cyst removed but it was 10 years ago, so I cannot compare costs.

Pregnant had a cyst. ....Could the cyst still give me pain?

Not sure if it went away, but I had the worst pain ever a month ago they said it was probably the cyst and that I shouldn't feel anymore pain. Well I feel it everyday and I'm preg. It's not round ligament or appendix. I'm so scared.. No one knows what it could be. I know you can't get a cyst while preg b/c no ovulation.. So could the cyst still be giving me pain??

Pregnant had a cyst. ....Could the cyst still give me pain?
Definately. And just cause your prego doesn't mean you don't get cyst. Those little bugars just show up uninvited. The only one you probably wouldn't get is the functioning cyst that bursts when you ovulate to release the egg every month. So since you're prego, you obviously aren't releasing an egg every month. I had a nasty one that was pretty big and painful. The doctors put me on birth control and it magically went away. I'm not sure what they can do for you when you're prego. Talk to you doc.
Reply:yes it can.
Reply:yup, it could. have you seen your gynecologist about it and discussed your pain?
Reply:cysts are actually somewhat common during pregnancy. they can cause miscarriages, so go check it out with your dr. asap.
Reply:Yes. An ovarian cyst is very painful and can cause you a great deal of pain. It can sometimes make you double over, the pain gets so bad. There is nothing that can be done about the cyst when pregnant. After you have delivered your healthy baby, you can ask them to drain the cyst. They usually rupture and when this happens it is very painful.
Reply:Absolutely. Doctors always try to tell you that you shouldn't be in pain, but they don't know, it's not their body. Cysts can hurt even after they're gone. They disturb and displace the nearby tissues and it may take awhile to get back to normal. They can also cause adhesions that will hurt until you get them removed. That happened to me. But be persistent if you keep feeling it. Explain to the doctor that you are in fact in pain and concerned. Hopefully he or she will listen. If not, get a second opinion. Good luck.

Worried about possible ovarian cyst?

"I went to the ER in August b/c I was having an early miscarriage. They did an ultrasound to confirm the miscarriage (which was a blighted ovum), and found I had a 21mm cyst on my right ovary (which made sense b/c I was having sharp shooting pains in my right side and I was worried I had an ectopic pregnancy). They said it was small and functional (possible corpus luteum) and not to worry about it. Got my period about 35 days later (normal for me) and everything was back to normal (no pains). My second cycle post-miscarriage was really weird. When I ovulated (I know when b/c I use a fertility monitor to track my cycle) it was late (day 22) and I had severe bloating and cramping the evening I ovulated, then it went away, but for the 2 weeks before my period I had weird symptoms that made me think I was pregnant (breasts got huge, felt sick to my stomach, etc). And when I did get my period I felt a little throbbing on my right side for the 1st day or so. Then it went away. Now my 3rd post-miscarriage period is due either tomorrow or Monday, and I have felt some little jabs in my right side. I should mention I've been to my OBGyn twice in the last 4 weeks as well as the ER (there was no pain but I was just worrying myself sick b/c I tend to obsess about this kind of stuff and I wanted to be seen asap) and had 3 pelvic exams and was told everything was completely normal and my ovaries felt totally normal and not to worry. But I can't help worrying... do you think the cyst they found on the ultrasound went away and these are all different cysts? Will the cysts keep me from getting PG? Could I have had these all my life and never known? Some info on me that may h

elp- I'm 29, have an 18-month-old son, weigh 130 pounds (small framed), and my younger sister was dx with a functional cyst before that was found via pelvic exam- it went away after a few months. Hubby and I will start trying for #2 in a few weeks so I just want to make sure everything is good to go! Thanks in advance!"

Worried about possible ovarian cyst?
Let it be.Sometimes go to the Gynecologist.
Reply:Sometimes the doctor will give you birth control to regulate your period and sometimes the pills may get rid of the ovarian cysts. That is what the doctor gave me to help me out with my ovarian cysts. Sorry if this does not help, I think I went out of the subject.

Dermal Cyst?

I have a small lump under my ear and by an ultra sound the local surgeon said it was a dermal cyst that is going to have to be removed. At first however she throught that it was a swollen lymphnod. She explained what that was but not what the dermal cyst was. Can anyone explain what a dermal cyst is? Any information at all would be nice the more the better! Thanks

Dermal Cyst?
dermal cyst is a cyst in the derma or skin.this is a common location for these .it is a pocket of fluid or debris that is trapped under the skin. sometimes these become infected

Anyone have pilonidal cyst? what were your symptoms?

I have pretty bad pain in the tail bone area but I don't really feel a cyst there however it is red and feels really inflammed. At first when I woke in the morning with this pain I thought maybe I just had a bad pimple with an awful lot of pressure but now I don't thinkso, it hurt a lot last night too and it hurts sitting, the pain gets worse at times and then settles a bit, I have only had it for a few days, any ideas? Does it sound like a pilonidal cyst. When you had a cyst could you actually feel a cyst in there or was it too deep?

Anyone have pilonidal cyst? what were your symptoms?
The best diagnosis via the web is that yes- you are describing a pilonidal cyst. It's actually a birth defect, believe it or not- and one of the most common, although folks don't think of them that way. It originally formed when you were a fetus and your spinal cord closed to form your backbone. A bit of skin was trapped in a fold, along with possibly a hair follicle and sweat gland. Sometimes they sit there for years, lifetimes in some cases, and never do anything. Sometimes, though, that sweat gland and hair decide to go on overtime. Without an exit pore, it all has nowhere to go, and what you recognize as a cyst forms. There is a chance yours has a small opening and can drain a little, which would explain why it comes and goes. Unfortunately the absolute cure means a minor surgery. In the meantime, you can make yourself more comfortable by soaking your tush in a hot bath. That will encourage it to drain a bit, if it can. If it is just a pimple or boil, it will form a head and drain, and though it's messy and uncomfortable, that will be it. But to be safest, you should go see the doctor for an evaluation. The cyst will get bigger, and more painful, until it makes it really impossible to sit or think about anything else except your painful tail. It may feel like a lump, hard or soft, depending on how close to the skin surface it is and how large the cyst actually is. Size isn't really critical, because the size really doesn't seem to have much relationship to the pain it can cause. Though the cure sounds radical, and it will take a week out of your life to recouperate, it's actually not as bad or as painful as the worsening cyst can get. So soak your tush, and call the doctor for an appointment to get it taken care of.
Reply:Yes I have had one 35 years ago very painful and it won't go away on it's own. It will subside and then return I had surgery.

I was told it was a ingrown hair that grows back in your skin and wraps around your tail bone forming a Pilonidal sinus very very painful. Go to your doctors and have it treated the longer you have it the more painful it gets.

I hope this helps.

Ovarian Cyst Vs Pregnancy?

I Just found out I'm pregnant. (5 weeks along) And something I am very concerned about, is that I have had ovarian cysts in the past and i have one on my right ovary as of right now (simple cyst) I am worried about Miscarrying or having an Ectopic pregnancy..Has anyone had/have ovarian cysts and gone through a healthy pregnancy (the first time) also What are the chances? I am definatly going to talk to my doctor in a few weeks when i'm due for my appointment but i was really concerned and thought I would ask your your guys's insight as well. t

Ovarian Cyst Vs Pregnancy?
My daughter-in-law found out she was pregnant BECAUSE she had an oviarian cyst. My grandson has Autism, but I'm fairly confident the cyst has nothing to do with it. (Autism runs in my family.) She didn't have any problems with her pregnancy, so relax, you and junior will be fine. Oh, and congratulations.
Reply:A cyst SHOUDL be on your ovary right now. This is what supports your pregnancy until the placenta takes over. The mroe serious cysts, shouldnt interfere once conception takes place. I was told 20 years ago I woudl likely never have any children due to severe PCOS, so yeah I had some cysts all right!! BUT I now have 2 healthy children with # 3 due any day now.
Reply:My doctor detected that I had a cyst on my right ovary at my 6 month office check. I had to go back at 8 weeks so that she can measure it to make sure it went down. It didn't go down much so I had to go back again at 10 weeks. It finally reduce in size so she wasn't worry about it anymore. I'm 38 weeks now. Good luck
Reply:Depends on what kind of ovarian cyst (benign vs. malignant) and the size.

You said you have a simple cyst, that's rather benign and common in women. What would be interesting is the size of the cyst. There have been case reports where ovarian cysts (whether benign or malignant) produced successful pregnancies (pregnancies without complications). Just go to your OB and have regular prenatal check-ups.

Anyways, congrats on the new baby.
Reply:I have PCOS and was diagnosed about 10 years ago with cysts covering both ovaries. They don't go away and I now have a 5 year old and a 2 1/2 year old. Your OBGYN should know about your cyst and will monitor you to make sure it doesn't cause complications. If you start feeling a lot of pain where the cyst is tell the Dr. If you start having pain on just one side make sure to tell the Dr and they can do a scan for ectopic pregnancy but the cyst shouldn't cause one but they can find the baby on ultrasound around 6 wks so you are almost there.
