Cyst ruptured and is cancerous?

My husbands grandmother went to the hosptial the other day bc she was bleeding. They found a cancerous cyst in her, and they did emergency surgery. They said something about the cyst rupturing and spreading throughout her body. They took her ovaries and basically all that stuff out and came out and said thats all they can do. They said you cant take kemo for this type of cancer, and that thats it. Does anyone have any advice? or any stories similar to this that the person gets treated w/ and doesn't pass away?? Thats BS that, thats it, sorry we didnt get it in time and now theres nothing we can do but wait for her to die. NO i dont think so, theres gotta be something we can do?????????

She needs a second opinon but if she did not go to the doc when she had symptoms earlier so they could have caught it sooner there is not much you can do. Once cancer has metastisized your main concern is keeping the patient comfortable. The docs are not trying to be rude they are being up front and honest about the fact that she did not go to a doctor soon enough with her symptoms and so the cancer has spread. I am not sure what you are hoping to hear but when you ignore symptoms and cancer spreads you have to get a second opinion and then just figure out where to go from there. I am sorry to hear that his grandmother did not get checked out sooner but please use this as a reminder for you and your husband to get your yearly physical exams and to not ignore symptoms that could be serious. There is a chance that radiation or chemo could slow down the progression but that is why you want a second opinion.
Reply:you can ask to see a cancer specialist=good luck and I hope you find the answer you are seeking
Reply:I am sorry to tell you that this does not sound good for grandmother. without knowing all the details, if this was an ovarian cancer, she will need the love and support of her family at this terrible time. sorry for what your family is going through. Be strong for her
