White cyst and red throat?

On my right tonsil, there is a single round white cyst about the size of a button. There is redness around the cyst. Whenever I swallow, there is a pretty sharp pain from the cyst. My right lymph node is also slightly swollen. I don't really feel feverish, nauseous, or achy.

I have been taking two 500 mg capsules of ampicillin a day for the past 3 days, but the problem seems to stay the same. It doesn't really get worse, either. Should I try getting another medicine or should the ampicillin cure whatever the problem is?

I would call the MD office and check to see if they would want you to come back in etc.You may need to change your antibiotic dose or choose a different one.You may be dealing with a "strep" infection with a tonsililar abscess. You can also use a mouth spray or throat lozenges like "Chloraseptic",that will numb the throat, and ease the pain.Take care. Reply:Go to the doctor. He or she will really know best- and much better than random people on the Internet.

Your health is important. Take care of yourself.
Reply:You should get to the doctor as you probably have strep throat.
Reply:Zithromax is a much better medicine for strep throat. I would call the doctor and ask about it.
