I have been diagnosed with ovarian cyst.?

I have had it for about 3 months now. It is 7cms in diameter. My doctor has asked me to go in for a laparoscopy to find out what kind of cyst it is. My CA-125 test is normal. I asked my doctor if there is any mediaction I could try, but she said there is no such magic pill that will make the cyst vanish.When I type 'ovarian cyst' in some search engines I get to read the Q %26amp; A's in some forums. In that I found that many women have said their doctors gave them birth control pills and the cyst got drained. But my doctor says these pills can only in helping prevention of cyst formation in the future. So we have to do laparoscopy now to find out if it is benign and also because if a cyst this big has not gone away in 3 months then it has to be removed or else it may damage the ovaries. Please kindly advise.

I have had the laproscopy procedure done for endometriosis. It is out patient surgery and they make an incision through your belly button or right under it. I had a couple days for recovery, then I was back to my normal activity. I have had an ovarian cyst as well, I never had surgery for it, it ruptured on its own. I know they can be fairly common.
Reply:I think you're going to have to have surgery to remove it. Ovarian cysts can get huge and will make you uncomfortable.
Reply:There are a few kinds of cysts and it's possible you have one that will not respond to hormone therapies. Because the ovary produces hormones as well as eggs, you should take it seriously and listen to your doctors and follow their instructions promptly. Express your concerns so that your doctor can address them.
Reply:The women I know that have had an ovarian cysts have had to get surgeries. They can get quite painful, and often are large. The best solution would be a surgery.
