Ruptured ovarian cyst?

I had pains in my lower left abdominal area for a few days. Went and saw my family doctor and he believed that it was an ovarian cyst. He did a pelvic exam and then ordered an ultrasound for me. He informed me that it was nothing to worry about but if the pain increased, to come back. I believe that the pelvic exam caused my cyst to rupture as that night I was in excrutiating pain but as it was after 11pm and I was home alone with my 2 children, I dealt with it. I called my doctor in the morning to ask if he needed to see me %26amp; I told him I believed the cyst had ruptured. He informed me that there's nothing they can do for me and should not bother coming down to his office. I have booked an ultrasound but cannot get in for 6 weeks.

I spent the next 2 days at home recovering and went to work today. I am finding that I am still pretty tender %26amp; sore. How long does it take to recover. Also, I've read on the internet that you can develop an infection?

Ruptured ovarian cyst?
hi i know the pain uror have been going through i am now 28 but have had 12 of these dam things happen to me the first time the dr said i am over doing my sport and need rest 2 days latter ended up in emergency cause the pain was so bad i couldnt walk they thought it was my apendix but wrong it was 2 burst cyst now i get them aroung every 2-3mnths and cause i am on heart meds i cant take meds for them so of i go to hospital each time but now i have had my tubes done due to cancer i and my ovaris r gone i no longer worry .

But i belive u should go to a gyno and have them check u out to insure all is ok if the pain is still happening go 2 the hospital and do find a new dr that is willing to work with u and this problem casue being female i have been told it can stuff up ur body for any future children u may wish to have and would hate this to happen to any other person

good luck take care and look after yourself
Reply:you should get a second opinion from a gynecologist. I had the same problem and had endometriosis as well as multiple cyst. The can remove large cyst if necessary, and either treat the endometriosis or surgery. Do Not Live in Pain .
Reply:I've had 2 rupture on me thus far in my life. My heart goes out to you for it is just awful.

I did not develop any infections but then, I marched into my doctor'd office and demanded to be checked over just to be sure. I would suggest you do the same. It is better for you to have peace of mind.

In future, should you feel a new cyst coming one, I would ask your doctor about going on anti-inflamitory drugs. This is what helped stop more of mine from getting to the rupture point.

I might also suggest: maybe it is time for another doctor!

Best to you!
Reply:Go to the ER...your doctor is nuts...when a cyst ruptures everything that was in the cyst enters your body...and yes it can cause serious infection that could spread through out your body. I get cysts all the time they usually wind up removing them when they get to the point that they are too painful....we all get them during ovulation but they usually disipate. But a rupture is a lot more serious.

I have listed some links below that explain a lot more. Good Luck!
